There are some cultures that say that opals were formed when an angry god hurled a rainbow at the earth and it shattered. In the place where the pieces landed, opals were formed. Looking deeply into this row of lively opals makes it easy for one to believe that this is true.
A myriad of colors are contained in these fantastic opals, blues, greens, orange, red, yellow and violet, all lie herein. This rich riot of color is held in place by a hand made 18 karat gold ring, the five stones together weigh about 1.55 carats. The ring is hallmarked with the marks for having been made in Birmingham, England of 18 karat gold. It’s lost its letter code, likely to resizing, but was certainly made in about 1910, it also has the makers mark ‘CE & Co.’. The ring measures 7.4 mm north to south and 20.8 mm across, it sits 4 mm off the finger and narrows to 2 mm at the back of the band. This ring is size 9.35, but could be sized up or down somewhat. This 18 karat gold ring weighs 4.1 grams.
