Victorian Blue Enamel Pearl Ring 15k Gold

$ 1,550.00

This beautiful ring reminds of portraits from the Renaissance of beautiful ladies with pearls and velvet ribbons netted through their bound up hair. The three swirling rows of creamy white pearls are separated by a bright twist of blue enamel in what certainly started life as a memorial ring. This ring would have had a locket on the inside, most likely containing a lock of hair, but it’s been covered up with a piece of gold, probably quite a long time ago.

This fantastic hand crafted ring dates to about 1850, and is done in 15 karat gold. The enamel is in lovely condition and all the pearls appear to be well matched and original. The ring is a size 5.75 and measures 6.3 mm north to south and 20 mm across at the face, it sits 3.5 mm off the finger and narrows to 2.7 mm at the back of the band. Care should be taken when wearing this (or any) enamel ring, try not to get it too wet and avoid extreme temperature variations (no doing dishes in this one!). This ring is unmarked but has been acid tested for purity, it weighs 3. 5 grams.
