This is the kind of jewelry that I personally love to wear. Murrle, Bennett & Co. is one of my favorite designers, their Arts & Crafts style just speaks to my artists heart. The clean lines, the bright and glowing faceted aquamarine contrasting with a creamy pearl, the whiplash design, all speak to the designer in my soul.
This wonderful necklace was hand crafted in about 1900 and is set with 6 creamy white pearls and one oval faceted aquamarine. The aqua measures 15mm x 11mm x 5.6 mm deep and weighs approximately 5 carats. The pendant is done in 15 karat gold and is marked on the reverse, the chain is 9 karat gold and is marked on the bale. The necklace is 19 inches long and the drop is 38 mm long and 31 mm wide at the widest point. It is marked with the MB&Co mark for Murrle, Bennett and Company. This necklace weighs 7.1 grams.
I don’t know about borrowed, but if you’re looking for something old and blue for your special day, look no further than this wonderful instant heirloom!

5 o’clock cocktails, high heels, tight dresses, big hair, cigarettes, that’s the era that this fantastic cocktail ring was born into. It screams for gold lamé and a fresh manicure. Big was the fashion of the day and 1950s jewelry was bold and flashy and demanded attention, and this beautiful aqua ring is certainly no exception.
Hand crafted in 18 karat gold, this fabulous ring has a play on the Neoclassical with its columnar feel and scrolling mount. It is set with a huge aquamarine stone in the very lightest shade of blue which weighs about 20 carats (22.2x17.5x9.6mm). The ring is marked on the back with several French hallmarks, it has the import mark of the owl with a 75 on it’s chest this means it has been assayed as 750 or 18k gold, it also has two other marks, but they are too rubbed to make out. This wonderfully weighty ring is a size 7.25 US and could be resized to suit, it weighs 17.7 grams. The ring measures 23 mm north to south and 18 mm across, it is 13 mm high and narrows to 4.4 mm at the back of the band. I bought this beauty in Paris, and while it's a bit hard to date, I suspect it was made in Europe around 1950.
This ring would go perfectly with a martini, but it would play nice with ice tea as well, wearable from blue-jeans to ballgowns!
