Art Deco Diamond Set Agate Ring 18k Platinum 1920s

When I first laid eyes on this ring, I thought that the diamonds were set in onyx. When I got a closer look and realized that, in fact, these diamonds were set into a very beautiful piece of variegated brown and black agate, I fell head over heels! I simply love this unusual take on a classic of early Art Deco Design, so I brought it home for you!

This wonderful hand crafted ring was made in Europe, in about 1915-1925. The ring is set with three, round and brightly sparkling old European cut diamonds; the center stone weighs approximately .2 carts and the other two stones are about .15 each, for a total of .35 carats. The ring measures 16.5 mm north to south and 8.8 mm across, it is a fairly flush mounted ring and sits just 5.3 mm off the finger. This unusual beauty is a size 6.75 but could be easily re-sized to suit, it weighs 3.7 grams. This ring is marked inside the band with ‘L26’ (I don’t know what this means) and ‘18Ct&Pt’ indicating that it was made with 18 karat gold and platinum.

This fantastic ring would make a beautiful and completely unique engagement ring, but it really doesn’t need a special occasion, it’s perfect for special occasions and equally perfect for everyday.
