There is just something about eternity bands, I wear a big ol' stack of them myself, so I totally get it. I admit that I almost kept this one for myself, it’s just so different form any other ring that has come across my path and when I put it between two of my regular eternity bands it was quite the fabulous look! Alas, it’s just a bit too big for me, and while the soft and flexible nature of it makes it extremely comfortable on the finger, I’m going to pass on it and let you all have a go.
Fully handcrafted in platinum, this ring most likely started out life as part of a watch band, but it has clearly been in its current state for quite some time. It is set with 54 old European cut diamonds that weigh about .04 carats each for a total diamond weight of about 2.16 carats. It has been carefully acid tested to verify the metal and is also marked with ‘PT’ for platinum and has a maker's mark. This wide band is very much like having an insta-stack of 3 eternity bands, it measures 11.2 mm wide and would fit a finger of about a size 8.5-9.25 US. It’s a wonderful ring to wear, soft and flexible, it conforms perfectly to your hand. This ring was likely made in France, which is where I found it, and dates to about 1925. It weighs 10.7 grams.

I wonder if zircon is really a girl’s best friend. Scientifically, it has one of the liveliest displays of sparkle, putting even diamonds to shame. The oldest zircon stones clock in at 4.4 billion years old. According to my calculations, that’s just half a billion years shy of the age of the earth. A few hundred years ago, during the Middle Ages, zircon was thought to aid in restful sleep, and bring wisdom and honor the wearer. I’ve been wearing this rock all week and I can tell you I’ve never slept better. Coincidence? I think not. A little sparkle can go a long way.
This Art Deco ring was handcrafted in Europe around 1920. It’s a sparkling vintage piece featuring a burnt orange-brown zircon at the center flanked by six diamonds with three on either side. The stones are platinum set over 18 karat yellow gold. The word ‘zircon’ most likely stems from the Persian word, ‘zargun’ meaning “gold-colored”. This round zircon measures 8.7 x 8.9 x 6 mm and weighs approximately 3.89 carats. There are two old European cut diamonds with four brilliant cut diamonds, weighing an approximate total of .22 carats. The ring face measures 8.6 x 16 x 7 mm off the finger and the band width is 2 mm at the back. This piece bears the gold purity mark, “18ct” and the platinum mark, “PLAT”. This ring weighs 3.8 grams and is a size 6.5.
Wear fireworks on your finger with this fiery solitaire ring! This piece would make a brilliant engagement or even anniversary ring.
A note from Victoria: Zircons are susceptible to color change from strong UV light and extreme temperature, so be cautious and don’t wear your zircon in a tanning booth or to get a gel manicure, make sure that it you get work done on your ring you tell the jeweler that the stone can’t take heat.
