This antique French Silver Embossed Iris Pill Box is simply luminous; covered in a glorious, swirling, asymmetrical design. On both the front and back, an iris blooms in its full beauty, reaching up from tendril leaves. Surrounding the flower are young buds about to blossom. The hallmarks are difficult to make out, but the figuring has all the characteristics of Art Nouveau. This wonderful piece measures 37 mm from bale to bottom and 29.3 mm across, with a depth of 12.4 mm. It weighs 8.1 grams and has been carefully tested as silver. As stated, hallmarks are present, but illegible except for the last two letters, “S E.” It also has the French silver mark.
