It was Christmas, a few years back, and she found herself at a good friend’s house, checking her phone constantly for messages from her sweetheart who was deployed overseas. Her friend grabbed her phone, holding it hostage behind her back, giggling at her own shenanigans. She huffed for a minute and then she realized that there were good friends all around her, she smelled apple cider in the kitchen – giving the air a delightful scent. She smiled and wandered through the boisterous crowd of happy eggnog-sipping folk, just then she saw her name on a green gift wrapped box beneath the tree. She snuck it to the kitchen and tore it open to find another a box, a red and gold ring box. Her hand’s curiosity couldn’t help but pry it open to find the most perfect ring with a note from her love, wishing her the happiest of Christmases.
This antique Art Nouveau ruby and diamond ring was handcrafted in 18 karat gold. It’s a marquis shaped stunner with a very French look and feel. The mistletoe motif is decorated with a 2 mm diamond and a 2 mm ruby. This piece is a size 5, and could be re-sized to suit. It weighs 4.3 grams, and measures 20.3 mm north to south and 11 mm across, it sits 3.7 mm off the finger. This ring is unmarked but has been acid tested to verify the 18k content, it is likely French in origin and dates to about 1900.

The most famous flea market in Paris is the one at Porte de Clignancourt. I go to Les Puces (the fleas) every time I set foot in that old town, even if just for a stroll. Last time I found this antique 18 karat gold Virgin Mary pendant. It has the words 'Virgo Virginum" meaning 'Virgin of Virgins' around a right-sided profile of Mary with a halo. The backside has a capital 'M' resting on a cloud as if in heaven. Two beautiful lily flowers frame the profile of the Virgin Mary and form the heart-shaped pendant. I fell hard for the gorgeous Art Nouveau styling of this fantastic pendant!
This antique pendant was handcrafted around 1910, perhaps in France although it bears no marks. We've carefully acid tested it to verify that it is made of 18 karat gold. It measures one inch (25.4 mm) from N to S, 13/16" from E to W (20.6 mm), is 1.8 mm thick, and weighs 5 grams.

I quite fell for this lovely ring. You might think that I found this one in France as it does have a Frenchie look about it, but in actuality I found it in the back of Rodger's Gallery on Portobello Road in London. I was looking for one of my regular suppliers but she wasn't in her normal spot in the market, someone else was there instead. Being an equal opportunity buyer, of course I had to have a gander in his case to see what I might see and I immediately spotted this Art Nouveau beauty. I asked him if I could take a closer look and he happily obliged. I looked at her through my jewelers loupe to get a closer peek and commented to the dealer that I thought the ring was quite lovely. "Although, I do wish her face wasn't quite so rubbed," I added. His reply: "So does she." Haha, he had me there! Even without razor-shaped cheekbones, she was too much of a beauty to pass up (and the price was right!).
This gorgeous Art Nouveau ring was handcrafted in about 1900, most likely in France, maybe in England. This one is unmarked so we have a little less information to go on than I might like, but it has been acid tested to verify the gold content at 18 karat. The ring has a little scene that goes around the whole band which showcases a giant poppy flower and its leaves, stems and buds. It is set with a cute little full cut round faceted diamond in the bottom flower bud that give it a lively winking accent. This ring is a size 9 and would be difficult to size due to the pattern that goes all the way around the ring. It weighs 10.6 grams. The ring measures 26 mm (1 1/16 inches) north to south and then tapers down to 5 mm at the back of the band.

It was all in a glance, the way she turned her head when she thought she heard her name across the room. Her blue eyes gazed around, searching. The silver abalone pendant around her neck reflected light from the bright chandelier, just for a moment, as she shifted. The abalone took on a life of its own, shimmering from the inside. She turned back to her conversation, as if nothing had happened.
This antique Art Nouveau silver and abalone pendant was handcrafted around 1910. It features a curving design with colorful abalone at the center with a natural pearl drop. This pendant measures 55.5 x 33.5 mm and it weighs 4.3 grams. It bears the hallmark, “Sterling” and the maker’s mark, “H.A.W.”
“What a fabulous pendant!” This is what anyone with observational skills will be telling you whenever you step out with this bauble around your neck!

My lord, but those pale violet eyes took his breath away. He tried every holiday, every birthday, every anniversary, to find something that would match the intensity and the beauty in her irises. This New Year’s, he was sure he found a match. Amethysts can’t go wrong because they are oh, so right. Bold and bright, precious and mesmerizing. This year, she wouldn’t just giggle and ‘awww’ at his attempt. This year, her jaw would drop and her eyes would hardly blink because she just couldn’t get enough.
This antique Art Nouveau amethyst and mother of pearl pendant was handcrafted around 1890 in 9 karat yellow gold. The swoon-worthy faceted square violet amethyst measures 6.4 x 6.4 x 3.9 mm. The drop is set with mother of pearl, it’s creamy white and reflects shades of pale pink and light blue. This lovely pendant measures 41.5 x 24.4 mm and weighs 2.9 grams.
