Antique Arts & Crafts Era Peridot Pearl Gold Pendant Necklace
There is a wonderful woman who stalls out on the street in front of one of the galleries on Portobello Road in London. Her mom helps her to run the stall, they are kind, sweet women with regular day jobs, but they love to buy and sell a few old goodies. She always has a few exquisite lavalieres for me, just like this one.
Hand crafted in England in about 1910 with a distinctive Arts & Crafts design, but with a definite nod it's Edwardian predecessors, this graceful, light and airy 9 karat yellow gold pendant features a central rectangular cut peridot in a bezel mount which allows a lot of light into the stone for extra sparkle. The peridot is framed by an organic motif, set with three creamy white pearls, while a smaller octagonal shaped, bezel set peridot hangs from the bottom, perfectly balancing the overall drop shaped motif. The pendant measures 43mm x 23.5mm x 2.5mm. The pendant weighs 3.2 grams, is marked 'IX' for 9k (tested) and also bears the maker's mark 'D & F'.
