Vintage Mid-Century Chalcedony Silver Ring

Gladys and Charles Mumford were a highly skilled husband and wife duo who created jewelry in the British Arts and Crafts spirit. They started in Coventry, working for Winifred King and Mildred Murphy (who traded as W. King & Co). After visiting Falmouth on holiday and falling in love with it, they decided to move and set up a silversmith and retail shop in Falmouth. Rumor has it, they even sold their jewelry aboard Queen Elizabeth II. Gladys was the more accomplished silversmith of two and by 1963 they had both ceased trading. Their works are rarely, if ever, marked, but are very recognizable.

This vintage Arts and Crafts chalcedony and silver ring was handcrafted in England by Gladys & Charles Mumford. It was made around 1950. An oval cabochon pale green chalcedony sits at the center of a silver leaf motif. The ring face measures 26.5 x 19 x 7.5 mm off the finger while the chalcedony measures 13 x 10 x 4.2 mm. This ring is a size 6 and it weighs 5.4 grams. There are no marks and it has been acid tested.

This gorgeous jade-colored ring is sure to bring a smile to your lips and style to your finger!
