Antique Victorian 9k Gold Gate Bracelet Heart Lock Clasp

$ 1,890.00

Gate bracelets, they called them. Why, you ask? Well, because the bars and links of these bracelets resembled the look of the iron gates that peppered London in the Victorian era. they were given usually as tokens of love, the giver locked the bracelet on his lovers wrist and wore the tiny key on a neck chain or watch fob!

This wonderful gate bracelet was hand crafted in Victorian London of 9 karat gold with a bit of a rosy hue. The links are silky smooth as only old can be, it is 7.75 inches long and .75 inches wide and closes with a heart lock clasp. The bracelet is hallmarked to the back of the lock but it is so worn that I couldn’t quite make out the year, I can see that it was made in London and the mark of ’375’ for 9 karat gold. This wonderful bracelet would be fantastic alone, stack it with a curb link or another gate and you’ll have quite the look! This one weighs 28.6 grams. It has a nice little chain to act as a safety and hold the lock secure. Made in London around 1900.
