Antique Jugendstil Levinger & Bissinger Silver Enamel Brooch Red Gold

$ 650.00

I don’t often see jewelry done in red enamel so when I do come across lovely items like this one, I do tend to buy them. This little Belle Epoque treasure has exquisite details packed into a compact package.

Made in Germany in about 1905 by the famed Art Nouveau firm of Levinger & Bissinger, this brooch showcases swags of flowers, tassels and little gold Fleur-de-lis on a background or regal red enamel, the bottom is accented with a fresh river pearl. This wonderful brooch measures 35.3 mm from north to south and 33.3 mm across, it weighs 7.1 grams. It is marked to the reverse with ‘900’ for the silver purity and Depose as well as the makers mark.

The firm of Levinger and Bissinger were, and continue to be, very well known for their German Jugendstil, Art Nouveau, designs. The company was based in Pforzheim Germany and crafted notable works of plique-a-jour enamel and Arts and Crafts jewelry.
