Art Nouveau Jugendstil Silver Brooch Pin Woman in Profile

$ 450.00

I found this stunning beauty in a small stall on Portobello Road in London, but she was undoubtedly made in Germany right around 1900-1910. Almost never signed, the German Jungendstil (Youth Style) artistic movement produced pieces that rivaled the Art Nouveau movement in France in both quality and style. Surely such artistry is the work of a master craftsman, though. Finely detailed, from her perfectly coiffed hair and elegant Roman nose, to the flowing details of it's nature inspired shape and details, this beautiful brooch is the epitome of the Jungenstil movement. The lovely piece is crafted in 900 silver and measures 25.9mm x 31.9mm x 2.3mm. It has a traditional C clasp and hinged pin stem, and weighs 7.5 grams.

In my humble opinion, brooches are highly underrated, they are the perfect accessory for any outfit, on the strap of a one-shouldered dress, used to hold a wonderful scarf in the perfect position, on a sweater, a blazer, even a hat. I can’t tell you how many time I’ve been delighted to find a beautiful brooch to suit the occasion in my jewelry box. You should try having one in yours, too!
