Victorian St. Andrews Cross Scottish Brooch Pin

$ 2,480.00

This fantastic Victorian Scottish Agate St. Andrew’s Cross Brooch was hand crafted during the 1880’s. Saint Andrew, also called Saint Andrew the Apostle, was one of the Twelve Apostles of Jesus and the brother of Saint Peter, and is the patron saint of Scotland (and Russia). Set within a circle of grey Montrose agates, the deep red agates of the cross contrast beautifully against greens and yellows of the shield shaped bumblebee agate at the center, each one hand set in a solid, hand wrought and chased frame of 9 karat gold. This spectacular antique Scottish brooch measures 50.6 x 40.9 x 7.2 millimeters and weighs 17.5 grams . This stunning brooch would look fantastic on any scarf, jacket or kilt or plaid!

(Please note, while this stunning brooch is in excellent overall condition, there is one very small split in the gold work, of which I have included a close up. This minor split can be expertly laser repaired by my jeweler at no charge if desired, but I have not done so before listing it because in my opinion it is minor enough that it does not affect the visual beauty or structural integrity of the brooch.)
