Antique Victorian Ruby and Diamond Horseshoe Bangle Bracelet in 18k Gold

The close relationship between people and horses goes back a long, long way, but perhaps the height of that relationship was reached in Victorian times, just prior to the advent of the automobile. Is it any wonder, then, that all things equine were so prevalent in Victorian art and jewelry? This fantastic ruby and diamond bangle is an excellent example of the artful expression of these close ties

Handcrafted in 18 karat gold, this horseshoe bangle is set with three bright and sparkly mine cut diamonds and four rich red round faceted rubies. The hinged bangle is delicately fashioned with scrolling gold openwork. It is very sturdy and in very nice condition, it has a safety chain and clasps closed with a nice little click. The horseshoe top measures 1.25 inches wide and 1.25 inches high, the full width of the front of the bangle is 2.75 inches. It would fit a wrist of about 7.25 inches or smaller. Made in England around 1870-1880, this bangle is unmarked but has been carefully acid tested to verify its 18k content. It weighs 7.2 grams.
