A giant, flashing, golden citrine is the sunshine of this fabulous flower garden; so big and juicy that one can almost smell the daisies! An homage to peace, love, and happiness, this pretty and haute couture hippie ring brings bright flower power on even the rainiest of days. With a ring like this, you could truly bring your own sunlight wherever you happen to venture!
The royal sized rectangular faceted golden citrine stone is set inside 23 various sized gold daisies, some of which are actually attached to the ring in an en-tremblant fashion, shake and twist with every move of your lovely hand. It was most likely crafted in the 1960s, possibly in France, which is where I purchased it. It is marked with an as yet unidentified makers mark (I’d be delighted to hear if anyone recognizes it!), but it’s otherwise unmarked. Although I don’t yet know the designer, this is most certainly a special designer piece, it is quite spectacular. The mesmerizing citrine is a fabulous deep golden color kissed with orange, truly the color of sunlight at dusk, it measures 29.5 mm north to south and 24.5 mm wide by 16 mm deep, and totals about 76.61carats. The ring narrows to 5 mm wide at the back of the band. It's been acid tested to ensure 18 karat gold purity. This piece is a size 8.5 and weighs 42.2 grams, I think it could be re-sized pretty easily, care should be taken to preserve the mark.
This ring makes me think of that song... 'Sunshine, lollipops, and rainbows....' when this ring is near, the rain truly does disappear!

I was taken in by the beguiling gem at the heart of this fabulous solitaire ring. It shimmers and sparkles with every move of the hand. The color changes from richest orange to salmon pink and back again depending on the light of the day.
This hand crafted estate ring is fully hallmarked and was made in Birmingham, England in 2006, practically a baby by my standards! The lovely setting has two little leaves on either side of the four prong mounted stone. The stone itself measures 9.1x7.2x5.4 mm and weighs approximately 2.85 carats. This is a wonderfully clean stone with just one small feather inclusion visible with magnification. The ring is marked with the marks for Birmingham, England, 2006, and 18 karat (white) gold. The ring is a size 6.25 US and could be re-sized to suit.
This bright and lively ring would make a stunning engagement ring for anyone looking for an alternative to a diamond.

On my days off in London, which are sadly few and far between, I do one of two things, if it’s a weekend, I make my way over to Liberty and wander the floors, have high in their wonderful tea room. If it’s a weekday, I make my way to the Tower of London to visit my dear friends, the Royal Crown Jewels. My favorite amongst them is the Imperial State Crown; the crown has existed in various forms since the 15th century, but the current version was made in 1937 and in addition to holding the 317 carat Cullinan II diamond, it also proudly showcases the Black Prince’s Ruby. The ‘ruby’ is not a ruby at all, but actually a red spinel. On one visit I took to chatting with the Beefeater in residence in the jewel room that day and he told me that the reason there is a ruby set into the polished, but uncut, spinel, is to hide a hole. This hole was drilled by Henry V so that he could wear the jewel during the battle of Agincourt for luck. It must have worked because Henry’s army, though vastly outnumbered, beat back the French to end the Hundred Years War. The jewel, however, was lost during the battle, and so Henry sent his troops back to the battlefield to search for it. It took them three weeks of looking and they eventually found it underneath of a deceased French soldier.
This spinel is a bird of a different color. Well, honestly, of several different colors. If you’re inside it appears to be pink kissed with violet, but outside in the sunshine it’s much more of a purple tinged with blue. The stone is a rounded oval faceted cut which measures 8.4x7.8x5.7 mm and weighs approximately 2.9 carats. The spinel is surrounded by 14 Old European cut diamonds that weigh approximately .08 carats each for a total of just over one carat in stones. They are beautiful diamonds, white and sparkling. The stones are set into a lovely hand crafted 18 karat gold mounting, it’s marked ’18ct’, but we’ve also acid tested it to make sure. It measures 18.9 mm north to south and 13 mm across and narrows to 2 mm at the back of the band. The ring is a size 8.25 but could be re-sized to suit. I’m not sure where this one was made, I purchased it in London, I would date it to circa 1890.
This fabulous cluster ring would make an unusual and truly stunning engagement ring!

Sometimes when I’m shopping I get really interested in the history of a piece, because it’s super odd or unusual, or because it tells a wonderful story; but other times when I’m shopping I just let my eyes do the walking and I pounce on whatever makes them pop!
Here’s an example of eye-popping, a fantastic deep green emerald cut emerald surrounded by two radiating halos of single cut diamonds. The emerald is richly colored and measures 6 x 4 x 4 mm and weighs approximately .66 carats, there are 36 diamonds in the surrounds and an additional 3 diamonds decorate each shoulder. In total the 42 diamonds add up to about .5 carats. The ring is currently a size 7.75, it could easily be re-sized to suit. This ring weighs 3.7 grams. It is marked and tests as 18 karat white gold.
This vintage beauty would make a wonderful and unusual engagement ring. It was hand crafted, probably in the 1960s, and based on the look of the mark, I feel it may be English in origin, I picked it up in London when my eyes lighted upon it and it made me smile!

Whenever I see a ring like this one, it really gets me to wondering. The stones in this ring are all old European cut diamonds, probably cut around 1880-1910, and yet this ring surely was made in the 1950s or 60s, so how did these diamonds end up here? What is their back story? Were they part of a Belle Époque brooch, links of a Victorian diamond bracelet, drops of an Edwardian necklace, a single fabulous earring whose mate was lost somewhere along the way? I guess in truth neither you nor I will ever truly know where they came from, what their previous life was. All we know for sure is that now they are here, in this fantastic ring, sparkling away as they've done for over a hundred years!
Handcrafted in France, this 18 karat white gold ring features a bedazzling array of diamonds, thirty-one old European cut round diamonds that add up to over 3.5 carats in all. The center stone is about .4 carats, six of the surrounding stones are about .15-.18 carats each and the other twenty-four weigh about .1-.12 carats each. The diamonds form a lovely knot or bow motif and are truly all sparkle, all of the time. This ring would be easy to resize, currently it is a size 4.75, and it weighs 8.3 grams. The ring is marked on the back of the band with the French eagle head mark, assayed in Paris and has also been acid tested to verify that it is indeed, 18 karat gold. The face of this ring measures 19.5 mm from north to south, and 19.5 mm across, it narrows to 2 mm at the back of the band.
Personally, I just adore old cut diamonds, so my heart did a little pitter-patter when I came across this beauty set with all these old cut gems. My own sneaking suspicion is that these diamonds started out life in a brooch and that some inheritee of said brooch decided to have it remade into this much more wearable and super stylie Retro cocktail ring!

Some pieces I buy on a pure, girly, bubble gum, princess fantasy level. Because, let’s face it, sometimes a girl just needs something sparkly and fabulous to get her through the day. Dropping off the kids, picking up the kids, doing load after load of laundry, feeding the dog (does anyone else remember to feed the dog?), they are all made a little bit easier when a girl’s got a good manicure and a ring like this on her finger. It’s equally excellent for romantic dates with the hubs, cocktails on Thirsty Thursday with the ladies, and if you’re so inclined, this one would be quite at home at the Academy Ball, dancing through the halls of the Bellevue in a frosty ball gown.
This fabulous ring is set with a beautifully bright and lively green emerald the color of the deep rainforest. This emerald is very clean and clear, as emeralds go, it measures 5x3.6x2.25 mm and weighs approximately .3 carats. The emerald is the floral center of this ring and is surrounded by a swooping branch of diamonds, 18 in total, a mix of old European cuts and rose cuts that add up to about .3 carats. The ring is hand crafted in 18 karat yellow gold and the stones are all set in platinum, it has been acid tested to verify the metals. This ring has definite Art Nouveau styling and soft, graceful lines. The ring measures 10.9 mm north to south and 18 mm across, it narrows to 1.5 mm at the back of the band. This ring is a size 4.5 and could be re-sized somewhat, please inquire. This ring weighs 2.6 grams.
Even though it’s unmarked, I feel that this ring may be French in origin, it dates to about 1910.

I try not be gem-ist, that is prejudiced against or towards one gem or another. I really do love them all (okay, I’m not huge on Tanzanite, sorry!). In truth, I have a weakness for a fine specimen of any type; yet still, I find myself more and more susceptible to the ever exotic and sublime Opal. Not only are they beautiful, they are also pretty cool. Did you know that Opals are the result of ancient rain? The seasonal rains of the worlds semi-desert places create opals by carrying dissolved silica deep into the earth where it forms deposits in the cracks between layers of sedimentary rock. Imagine that, ancient rain, that you can wear on your finger!?
This fantastic Opal has a magnificent play of color and is cut in a tantalizing cabochon marquise. It’s blues and greens, oranges, yellows and reds can be seen dancing and glimmering in any light, from any angle. The luminous gem is set within a frame of Old European cut diamonds, 20 in all, which weigh approximately .05 carats each and add up to a total weight of 1 carat. The opal measures 13.5x6x4.1 mm and weighs approximately 1.5 carats. The overall ring measures 19.8 mm north to south and 11.6 mm across and sits 6.5 mm off the finger.
This hand crafted Edwardian stunner was beautifully made with a lovely looping gallery, most likely it is English and dates to about 1910. It is unmarked but tests as platinum in multiple spots. This size 6.4 ring could be re-sized to suit a new wearer, it weighs 2.8 grams.
This intriguing ring would make a fantastic engagement ring for that luminous lady in your life who is looking for something to match her style!
A note about opals: Due to their high moisture content, opals should be protected from drying out, they love to be worn as they get humidity from your skin, but when your not wearing them, it's best to keep them in a sealed plastic baggie!

You saw it there, on your left hand, after he gave it to you and you said yes and cried and called your mum. And every time you see it on your finger you can’t help but smile wider than the horizon as you remember the end of your second date. He walked you to your car and his brown eyes twinkled as they stared at you intently, not wanting to look away, not wanting to even blink. He gave you a hug, and you reached your arms around his neck and he held onto you so tightly your feet hardly touched the gravel driveway where you were saying goodnight under the bright sheet of glittering stars.
This gold diamond ring features a six sided star point set center diamond flanked by leaves set with diamonds and scrolling shoulders. Each of the stones is light-catching. Each shoulder boasts four glittering diamonds. It is hallmarked with, ‘18Ct’ indicating it is made in 18 karat yellow gold. This ring is a size 4 and weighs 2.7 grams. It measures 6.2 mm north to south, is 15.4 mm across and sits 2.4 mm off the finger. This Edwardian era ring was made in England, around 1910.
Hold the universe on your finger with this star of a ring!

Made up of tiny rods of glass called tessera, micro-mosaics are just tiny forms of an art which has existed for millennia. The earliest examples date back to the second half of the 3rd century BC and were done with bits of stone, shells and ivory. Here’s a wonderful example that you can wear around on your finger. A bright little butterfly who will stay with you all day.
This ring dates to Victorian times, probably about 1870 and is beautifully colored. The ring is hand crafted in silver with gold washed accents, the face measures 15.9 mm north to south and 15.6 mm across, it sits 7.5 mm off the finger and narrows to 2.1 mm at the back of the band. The ring is a size 6.75 US and weighs 4.2 grams.

Heart symbolism soared during the Georgian Era, and continued to be a regular motif under the reign of the trend-setter, Queen Victoria. Her dear Prince Albert gifted her a heart locket, prior to their wedding, with a lock of his hair inside. It is rumored that this was one of her most prized possessions. And anything the Queen loved, the rest of the West did, too. Couples used the double heart as a betrothal icon as it meant that two hearts were bound together as one. The intertwining hearts created a loop, with no beginning or end, represented a love meant for eternity.
This antique Victorian double heart ring holds both diamonds and pearls, and was handcrafted in 1870, in Birmingham, England. This double heart motif is made of nine rose cut diamonds and six pearls. The first heart is bordered in shiny pearls, with the center holding a winking diamond. The second heart is just the opposite, as it is framed in diamonds with a pearl at the center. This ring is fully hallmarked and bears the letter ‘v’, for the year, an anchor for Birmingham, and the gold purity content marks, ‘15’, and ‘.625’. It also has a maker’s mark that reads, ‘AA’. The face measures 9 x 11.6 x 3.3 mm off the finger. It is a size 6.5 and weighs 2.7 grams.
This ring is truly a Victorian treasure, with a classic design rich in meaning and meant for love.

When Prince Albert gave Queen Victoria a snake ring as an engagement ring, he set off a new love for an ancient motif. For centuries, the symbol of a serpent stood for wisdom, rebirth, and fertility. The Queen, unknowingly, renewed the meaning of a snake to embody eternal love, as she held this ring very dear to her heart. Prince Albert was ever the romantic, continually gifting his beloved with meaningful jewelry that she wore with love and pride long after his death.
This perfect Victorian snake ring holds three glittering white diamonds on his head, two mark the eyes, and the largest, an Old European cut diamond, decorates the forehead. This diamond measures 4 x 3.1 mm and weighs approximately .35 carats. This symbolic serpent was handcrafted in Birmingham, England, in 1886 and is hallmarked as such, with the date letter, ‘m’, the crown, and the anchor. This ring also bears a maker’s mark that reads, ‘CBB’. There is another mark which says, ‘1234’. This ring is a size 8.25 US and could be re-sized, somewhat, upon request. It weighs 9 grams and has a bandwidth of 7.2 mm.
This cheeky snake would make a fantastic, unusual, and extremely sentimental engagement ring.
