This lovely Victorian six stone pearl and rose-cut diamond ring was hand crafted in what was undoubtably the jewelry center of England, if not all of Europe: Birmingham. Known throughout the world as the 'City of a Thousand Trades', Birmingham's history dates back half a million years, as signs of human settlement date back to the Stone Age. But Birmingham's true growth and prosperity are owed to its metalworking industries of all kinds. Birmingham's prominence as a city bloomed under Queen Victoria, with the introduction of the railway, it became linked to Manchester and Liverpool and soon London. It was known for its small workshops and high level of skill and craftsmanship, and jewelry flowed out of Victorian Birmingham to the rest of the world. A world which, at that time, was dominated by the full power of the British empire, the largest empire in history.
This ring was made in Birmingham in the year 1900, at the height of Britain's glory. The stones are set into an 15 karat yellow gold mounting. The largest pearl is 3.3 mm across, graduating to the smallest which is 2.8 mm across. There are 4 diamonds between the pearls to give added sparkle. It has a full set of hallmarks as well as the maker's mark is 'TBR'.
The ring is currently a size 7.5, but could be resized by an experienced jeweler, it weighs 3.3 grams.

I've always thought of myself as a bit of a gypsy, I get restless when I've been in one place for too long. Maybe that's why I find myself so attracted to these gypsy set rings, with their wonderful smooth look and feel, I think they speak to the gypsy in my soul.
This fantastic 3 stone gypsy set ring has marvelous old cut diamonds with rich, lively fire. Hand crafted in about 1880, the stones are set in a hefty shank of 18 karat gold. This size 8 ring was probably made for a man, but would be equally impressive on a woman, the perfect ring for someone who uses their hands a lot and would love something with a low profile. The center stone measures 5.25x4.5x4 mm and weighs approximately .6 carats, the outer stones are about 3.5x3.3x2.8 mm and weigh .2 carats each for a total diamond weight of just about 1 carat. The ring measures 7.7 mm north to south and 18mm across, it sits 3.9 mm off the finger and it narrows to 4 mm at the back of the band. It is marked inside with ’18’ indicating the gold content and ‘W.S.’, an English makers mark, and it weighs 8.5 grams.
This wonderful ring would stack nicely with others but is impressive enough to be worn alone.

My heart belongs to the Roaring Twenties. Between F. Scott Fitzgerald, T.S. Eliot, Louis Armstrong, and the Charleston, I know I was born decades too late. Ladies donned flapper dresses with t-strap heals and beaded headbands. Jewelry was minimal, so they had to make it count. I would have worn a long pearl necklace to accentuate my bob and on my hand would be this dazzling ring, sparkling as I adjust my silk fringe wrap.
This is a ring that glitters and glitters and glitters. This antique piece was handcrafted around 1915-20. It’s a five-stone diamond platinum stunner on a size 8.25 US band that weighs 4.1 grams. The largest diamond is at the center, measuring 5.1 x 4.6 x 3.3 mm and weighing .55 carats. Altogether, the Old European cut stones weigh approximately 2.2 carats. The ring face measures 6.4 mm north to south and 21 mm across the face and sits 5.4 mm off the finger, it narrows to 1.4 mm at the back of the band. There are no marks and it has been acid tested.
This engagement ring (or wedding band, or anniversary ring or just because you deserve it ring) is to die for! It’s elegant and charming, glittering and simple. She’ll love it!

This wonderful ring has great, cheeky style! The propeller shapes around each diamond were created when the jeweler used a graver tool to push the gold around the stone to form the prongs. It was a safer and more secure way to set gems, allowing men (and women) to go about their day without worrying that they might snag a prong and loose a diamond. It lets me do the same as I scour markets and antique stores seeking out treasures just for you.
This fabulous five-stone diamond ring was handcrafted in Chester, England, in 1882. It was made in 18 karat gold and showcases five old European cut diamonds set horizontally across the face. The sparkly round cut diamonds weigh approximately .10 carats altogether. The shoulders bear a few more details including a stylized heart design. The ring face measures 6.6 x 16 x 2.1 mm and the band width is 2.3 mm at the back. This beautiful ring is a size 7.25 US and it weighs 2.7 grams. This piece has been fully hallmarked. It bears the crown mark for England, the gold purity mark, “18”, the Chester origin mark, the date letter, “t”, and a maker’s mark, “P&S”.
This style was initially popular with men, and women soon followed suit. Not long after, these beautifully set rings were made for gentlemen and ladies. They were typically gifted as friendship bands from young girls to each other, or from husbands to their wives. This one would make a fabulous engagement ring or wedding band, especially for an active person.

Even though this ring is over 100 years old, it’s perfect for a recent trend, ring stacking! It’s sleek lines and sparkling gems make it just right either on it’s own or sandwiched between two other 5 stone rings, try it with all diamonds, or pair it with another stone, it’s ready to play with sapphires, opals or even emeralds!
Hand crafted in 18 karat gold, this ring is set with two deep red rubies of wonderful clarity and juicy color, each one weighs approximately .35 carats, for .7 carats together. The rubies sit between three wonderfully bright and sparky diamonds, the center diamond is a round faceted transitional cut with a small open cuelet, it weighs approximately .45 carats, the two side diamonds are slightly different, one is an Old European cut and the other is a transitional cut, the Euro weighs approximately .2 carats, the transitional is approximately .15, for .35 carats total. The ring is marked with English hallmarks for having been made in Birmingham, England of 18k gold and the makers mark ‘A.I’. The date mark is missing, most likely due to being re-sized at some point in it’s life, but it likely dates to about 1900-1910. This ring measures 6.3 mm north to south at the front and 18.2 mm across, it sits 4 mm off the finger; this one is a size 7 US and while it could be re-sized a bit either up or down, it would not be a good candidate for a dramatic re-sizing. Weighs 2.9 grams.

She lugged her suitcase up six flights of narrow Parisian hotel stairs to find that she had grabbed somebody else’s suitcase. In her evening gown and timeless accessories, she went back down the stairs to find a lady yelling at the manager about a thief. She calmed the woman with her smile and her charm and then drug her own suitcase up the winding stairs, deciding she was done working out for the next two months. She opened her belongings to make sure everything was where it should be. She unzipped a hidden compartment and pulled out her favorite treasure, a pretty ring with shine for days. She slipped it on her finger and back down the staircase she dashed, making her way to a dinner date she was almost too excited for.

Some pieces I buy on a pure, girly, bubble gum, princess fantasy level. Because, let’s face it, sometimes a girl just needs something sparkly and fabulous to get her through the day. Dropping off the kids, picking up the kids, doing load after load of laundry, feeding the dog (does anyone else remember to feed the dog?), they are all made a little bit easier when a girl’s got a good manicure and a ring like this on her finger. It’s equally excellent for romantic dates with the hubs, cocktails on Thirsty Thursday with the ladies, and if you’re so inclined, this one would be quite at home at the Academy Ball, dancing through the halls of the Bellevue in a frosty ball gown.
This fabulous ring is set with a beautifully bright and lively green emerald the color of the deep rainforest. Iced tea sweetened with honey, from the teal valley below, sat in a pitcher on the porch, and indigo skies were on the horizon. A warm little hand held her left, and played with a ring from her grandmother – a gift from years ago, meant for luck. Her smile was as wide as the view before her and she squeezed her granddaughters hand right back, all the while thankful the luck her grandmother left her was the good kind. Hoping this little girl would be as happy as she was now, and promising that the ring would some day be hers.

I’ve often wondered if jewels can flirt. The way they dance, shimmer, and shimmy, I find it’s a rather plausible hypothesis. Diamonds like these seduce the worthy and tease the unprepared. They’re inviting, but with a hint of scandal and plenty of allure. It’s easy to see why Daisy couldn’t get enough and why Gatsby followed suit.
This sparkling five-stone diamond bypass ring was handcrafted in platinum. It was made around 1915-20 in England. Each of the diamonds are old European cuts with the largest at the center of a swirling ring face design. The center diamond measures 3.7 x 3.7 x 2.3 mm and weighs approximately .20 carats. The two diamonds next to the center measure 2.3 x 2.3 x 1.7 mm each and weigh approximately .06 carats each. The smallest two stones each weigh approximately .01 carats each, adding even more glimmer to this vintage stunner. This ring bears the platinum mark, “PLAT” and a maker’s mark, “WG&S”. The ring face measures 7.4 x 9.5 x 5.5 mm off the finger and the band width is 1.7 mm at the back. It’s a size 7.5 US and weighs 3.6 grams.

There are two things that I tell all my guy friends when they come to me looking for engagement rings for the ladies that they've decided to spend a lifetime with. The first is that if she truly loves you, she'll say yes to ring from a gum ball machine. The second is, don't give her that, give her a diamond.
This vintage diamond solitaire is really and truly the perfect engagement ring. The hand made 18 karat gold and platinum ring was made around 1910, a classically beautiful mounting, it is set with a stunningly lovely round Old European cut diamond of about .64 carats which is supported by two smaller diamonds on either side, the four smaller stones add up to about .18 carats in total. This ring measures 6 mm north to south and 13.2 mm across at the face, it sits 5.8 mm off the finger and narrows to 1.6 mm wide at the back of the band. This ring is marked with the marks for 18 karat gold, made in London, England and ‘18ct &Pt’ for the metals; it is a size 6.75 and weighs 2.1 grams.

I’m always on the lookout for marvelous opal rings, and I often come across 3 and 5 stone varieties in the very typical English Victorian fashion, but I have to admit that when I saw this particular ring my jaw just about hit the floor. Once I had lifted said jaw and tucked it back neatly into place, I had no choice but to slip this large and luscious beauty onto my finger and bring it home with me. This is, without a doubt, the biggest, boldest and most fabulous example of a 3 stone ring I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. Far, oh so very far, from typical.
Hand crafted in 18 karat gold around the turn of the (last) century, this circa 1900 ring is graced with three voluptuous opals with fantastic play of color in flashes of blue, green, orange, red and yellow. The center stone is an approximately 1.7 carat round cabochon gem and the two side opals are cabochon egg shapes that add up to another 1.2 carats in bright opal gems. Interspersed between the opals are 5-7 point old European cut diamonds for added sparkle and flash, these add up to about .35 carats total weight. This ring is a size 9 and while it could be re-sized a little bit, it’s scale dictates that it be worn on a finger of about this size. The ring measures 9.8 mm from north to south and 26.3 mm from east to west and sits 6.4 mm off the finger, it narrows to 1.7 mm at the back of the band. This ring has no marks but has been acid tested to verify it’s content at 18 karat gold.
This stunning ring was no doubt worn by important lady of the day, I have yet to meet its equal.

Morning rose from the earth and transformed the sky into sheets of lime green and watermelon pink. It was a quiet moment, before the storm of day. She went through the motions of the morning, brewing coffee, choosing a lipstick, waiting for the paper. The doorbell rang, so she went to it. He stood there with roses in his hand, and a devious grin on his adorable face. In his other hand, he held a ring set with shining diamonds. Sometimes, it’s hard to find the right words for beautiful things. “Ooh”, “Aah, “Mhm”, “Wow”, “Yowzah”, and “Mine”, are my typical vocabulary for when my eyes set themselves on something good. Of course, there are even those times when something is so good, so everything-I-didn’t-know-I-needed, that my mouth doesn’t know how to work, my jaw drops, and I am speechless. It happened with this ring. Every angle is perfection. It’s so elegant you want to live in it, lucky for you, you can!
This vintage late Edwardian or early Art Deco platinum and gold diamond ring was handcrafted around 1915-1920, likely in France. It’s a stunning dome ring with everlasting sparkle thanks to 25 diamonds set in platinum over 18 karat gold. The center diamond is a round old European cut stone measuring 4.2 mm in diameter and 2.7 mm in depth for an approximate weight of .30 carats. The remaining 24 diamonds are rose cuts and oh so glittery. This ring is a size 7 and it weighs 2.8 grams. The ring face measures 14.5 x 20.8 x 5.6 mm off the finger. There are no marks and it has been acid tested.
A ring should look like this. It has that je ne sais quoi, that x factor, that star quality, just like you do.

Like it or not, our human history and mythology is highly connected to the imagery and iconography of the serpent. Cleopatra wore golden snakes, Eve was notoriously taken in by one, the Buddhists say that Mucalinda, king of the snakes, guarded the Buddha while he sat in meditation, and the ancient Egyptians worshiped the snake goddess, Wajet, who protected the pharaohs, while simultaneously fearing her son, Nehebkau, the two-headed serpent who guarded the entrance to the underworld. The snake biting its own tail has been used through the ages to represent the cyclic and infinite nature of all of life, and the motif is thought to have been inspired by the stars of the Milky Way. Two snakes intertwined have long embodied the perfection and eternity of love.
This fantastic snake ring had me at hello. Round and round and four times round, these two 18 karat gold snakes chase in endless circles. The head of each snake is set with a bright and lively Old European Cut diamond weighing approximately .15 carat. The ring is fully hallmarked on the inside of the band with the crown mark for having been made in England, the Castle for the town of Chester, and an N representing the year 1913; it also has a maker's mark of ‘F.B’. It is a size 9 and would be slightly more complicated to size than an ordinary ring, but clearly it's been done once and could be done again. I wouldn't recommend changing it by more than a couple of sizes up or down, please inquire if you're curious and I'll pass the question along to my jeweler. This ring measures 15.6 mm north to south at the widest point and narrows down to 10 mm wide at the back of the band, it weighs 8.5 grams.
There is something very powerful about a man in a gold ring. Throw in a couple of snakes and that power speaks to yummy. (This ring would be equally beautiful and powerful on a woman, don’t get me wrong).

You saw it there, on your left hand, after he gave it to you and you said yes and cried and called your mum. And every time you see it on your finger you can’t help but smile wider than the horizon as you remember the end of your second date. He walked you to your car and his brown eyes twinkled as they stared at you intently, not wanting to look away, not wanting to even blink. He gave you a hug, and you reached your arms around his neck and he held onto you so tightly your feet hardly touched the gravel driveway where you were saying goodnight under the bright sheet of glittering stars.
This gold diamond ring features a six sided star point set center diamond flanked by leaves set with diamonds and scrolling shoulders. Each of the stones is light-catching. Each shoulder boasts four glittering diamonds. It is hallmarked with, ‘18Ct’ indicating it is made in 18 karat yellow gold. This ring is a size 4 and weighs 2.7 grams. It measures 6.2 mm north to south, is 15.4 mm across and sits 2.4 mm off the finger. This Edwardian era ring was made in England, around 1910.
Hold the universe on your finger with this star of a ring!

The buckle was a common motif in Victorian jewelry as it symbolized eternity. The idea of one end being threaded into the other, creating a never-ending circle, was a powerful justification of its meaning. When worn, or gifted, it represented the beautiful ideas of unending love, fidelity, and strength. This wonderful piece of Victorian tradition is smothered with romantic symbolism. The buckle was popularized by Queen Victoria, and the design carried over into the Edwardian Era. Today, it remains as a timeless motif of romance.
This antique Edwardian ruby and diamond gold buckle ring was handcrafted in Chester, England, in 1908. It bears an engraved buckle motif with two dark pink rubies and a beautiful diamond, set in 18 karat gold. The Old European cut diamond measures 1.5 mm in diameter and .8 mm in depth, weighing approximately .01 carats. Both of the round rubies measure 2 x 2 x 1.2 mm and together weigh a total of approximately .08 carats. The ring face measures 6.5 x 18 x 2.7 mm off the finger with a band width of 5 mm at the back and is a size 8.25. This buckle ring has been fully hallmarked. It bears the crown mark for England, the gold purity mark, “18”, the wheat sheaves mark for Chester, and the date letter, “H”.
The buckle motif dates to the sixteenth century when it was often called a ‘garter’. The buckle signifies the unbreakable strength of loyal virtue and memory forever. Sometimes, it’s seen as a motif on memorial jewelry.

In terms of aesthetic, the Edwardian Era stretches from 1895 to about 1915. However, King Edward VII, Queen Victoria’s eldest son and the person whom this period is named after, only ruled from 1901-1910. This was the final jewelry period that was named after a British monarch. In France this period of time was referred to as ‘La Belle Époque’ translating to ‘the beautiful era’, named after the luxurious lifestyles of the King and his Queen consort, Alexandra of Denmark. They established an international high society whose dress code required fine jewelry and lots of it. Although the couple influenced the Edwardian era’s visuals, artists and design houses did as well. During the Edwardian era, delicate design and feminine characteristics reigned. It was inspired by art from the 17th and 18th centuries. It was a time in which platinum was beginning to be used as jewelry making techniques improved. It was a time in which people cared a lot about which jewels were used in their pieces, and diamonds soared in popularity.
This wonderful ring was handcrafted in England right around 1910, at the height of Edwardian style. It is set with three Old European cut diamonds patterned among two vivid round rubies set in 18 karat gold and platinum in an modified bypass design. This ring is a size 7.5 and it weighs 2.9 grams. The center diamond measures 3.2 x 3.5 x 2.4 mm, weighing approximately .17 carats. The smaller diamonds each measure 2.3 x 2.3 x 1.7 mm for a total weight between the tow of approximately .12 carats. The rubies measure 2.5 x 2.7 x 2.1 mm and weigh approximately .20 total carats. The ring face measures 8.7 x 10.1 x 4 mm off the finger and the band width is 2 mm at the back. This ring bears the purity hallmarks, “18”, “PLAT”.
This ring would make a marvelous and completely unique engagement ring!

She was at her table, with her coffee, reading a book. One hand turned the page while the other subconsciously twirled her hair. The ring on the twirling hand refracted rainbow shades all around her, onto the walls and the coffee cups of strangers. Those diamonds, they sang with the light, sending dancing color off into the atmosphere like fairies in a tale.
This glittering, uniquely shaped antique Edwardian diamond ring was handcrafted around 1910, in England. Each of the 11 diamonds are silver set on a 15 karat gold band. I still get it, that feeling of excitement, anticipation, reverence; on Christmas Eve, when everyone is asleep, when my house is clean and quiet and the gifts are all wrapped and under the tree. I like to turn off all but the twinkle lights, put on my favorite version of Silent Night and just let the joy wash over me.
If ever there was a ring made for Christmas, it is this one. An Edwardian beauty set with four sparkling diamonds, three rich natural Red Rubies and three bright green natural Demantoid Garnets. The ring is beautifully carved on the edges of swoops and swirls, like drifted snow. The face of this ring measures 5.6 mm from top to bottom and 18 mm across, it sits 2.6 mm off the finger and narrows to 2.1 mm at the back of the band. The ring is marked inside the band with ’18’ for 18 karat gold, and has marks for having been made in Chester, England in 1909. This ring is a size 8.5 and weighs 3.4 grams.

As far as baubles go, this one is extraordinary. It’s a nod to the vanished elegance of a time gone by, of chateaux and extravagant gardens, when beautiful people dressed for dinner and women entered the room in a flutter of silk. A time when chandeliers were lit, fires crackled, candelabras blazed, turning diamonds like these into rich luminous drops of captured sparkle against soft skin.

When certain mineral combinations are subject to extreme heat and pressure, wonderful things can happen. Rubies might have turned out as sapphires or emeralds, they have the same basic components after all. Only a tiny mineral change and the right machinations of the Earth’s crust came along to kiss the stone with enough fire to turn it this brilliant shade of bright red. It’s almost as if that intense heat has been captured in the form of this glowing and sparkling gem. A rare and stunning stone that only fire could create.
This stunning Ruby and diamond ring was hand crafted in France in about 1880. The fabulous natural ruby shows signs of being untreated, it measures 8x5.8x3 mm and weighs approximately 1.1 carats. The ruby is surrounded by 12 chunky Old Mine Cut diamonds which are bright and lively. The diamonds are rated as F-G in color and VS1-SI2 in clarity with most being VS, they add up to 1.52 total carats, each shoulder is further set with a small mine cut diamond of .055 carats, for a total diamond weight in this ring of 1.63 carats. The ring measures 15.13 mm north to south and 11.7 mm across, it sits 4.2 mm off the finger and narrows to 1.75 mm at the back of the band.

Gently cradled in it’s rich gold mounting, this wonderful Old European cut diamond has a soft cushiony shape, a lovely fat girdle and a fantastic hand cut look. This sparkly ring may well have been made to be worn during a state of mourning as it’s accented with black enamel shoulders.
I believe this ring to be French in origin, it has a a somewhat worn makers mark that shows the diamond cartouche typical of a French makers mark, it seems to have been re-sized near the marks and may have lost it’s purity mark at that time. The size 6.5 US ring was most certainly made around 1860 and tests as 18 karat gold. The diamond measures 4.2 x 3.35 x 2.75 mm and weighs approximately .25-.3 carats. The ring measures 6.7 mm north to south and 15.2 mm across and sits 3.6 mm off the finger. The ring tapers to 1.4 mm at the back of the band. The enamel is in very nice condition, but it isn’t perfect, please look closely at the images. This ring weighs 1.2 grams.
This lovely ring could be used as an engagement ring, but care should taken to protect the enamel, I wouldn’t recommend this one for all-day everyday wear, not one to be showered or exercised in!

Somehow I always feel like Joan Wilder when I wear emeralds. Remember Joan? She was the character played by Kathleen Turner in that classic 80s movie ‘Romancing the Stone’. I feel like maybe when Joan got back from her adventures in the jungle she would have taken some of her book earnings and bought herself some emeralds. Fabulous ones, like this one; just to remind herself of Jack Colton and swinging through the jungle with her arms wrapped tightly around him.
This fantastic ring is French and definitely has that ‘ooh-la-la’ factor. In spades. It’s set with a lozenge cut emerald at its center in the most intriguing shade of deep rainforest green. The stone measures 9 x 6.7 x 3.8 mm and weighs approximately 1.25 carats. It doesn’t stop there, though, as this lively and unusually cut emerald is supported by a cast of 50 diamonds. The diamonds are a mixture of 18 rose cuts and 32 Old European cuts, some of which are Mazarin cuts. The diamond add up to about 2.25 carats total weight and are bright white and very sparkly. The face of this lovely, long ring measures 25.3 mm from north to south and 16 mm across, it sits 6.7 mm off the finger and narrows to 2.2 mm wide at the back of the band. The ring is a size 6.25 and weighs 4.7 grams.
This fantastic ring was hand crafted in France around 1880 and has a owl mark on the back of the band. It has been carefully acid tested and is fully crafted in 18 karat gold.
