I admit that when I bought this piece I intended to take it apart and turn it into three separate pendant. But when the vendor went to have a rummage in her handbag and came out with this precious fitted box I realized why she hadn’t split it up herself. So, now I won’t either. Will you? (Actually I’d be happy to if you like, but you have to have all three!)
This wonderful pendant is a triple treat of Art Nouveau pendants of ascending size. These 14 karat gold plaques feature the faces of women in profile, a very traditional Art Nouveau motif. Each plaque has the same flower and each flower is set with a little winking old cut diamond. The pendant is 57 mm from top to bottom and 23 mm across at the widest point, it weighs 9.2 grams not including the fitted box. This piece is unmarked but has been carefully acid tested as 14 karat gold. I suspect that this beauty is American in origin and probably dates to about 1900-1910.
