Antique Victorian Rose Cut Diamond Cluster Earrings
The carriages arrived at sunset, the line of them reaching back into the dusky depths of the tree-lined drive. Gentlemen in top hats and tails stepped out first and reached their hands back into the dark interiors to pull out ladies decked in voluminous skirts and capes, their breath visible in the chilly night air. Inside the stately stone manor house hundreds of candles were lit and fires burned brightly in giant hearths; the warmth fogging the windows from the inside, creating cozy shadows for those looking in. Miles of velvet and upswept hair were complimented by acres of sparkling diamonds, glinting with the slow flash of rose cuts, a diamond cut to be seen by candlelight.
This fantastic antique early Victorian earrings are set with clusters of rose cut diamonds in 15 karat gold. Hand crafted in about 1860, each ear is set with 10 sparkling rose cut diamonds, the center diamonds measure 5.2 and 4.7 mm across, the surrounding clusters are 3.8 mm on average and the little top stones are 3.4 mm each. The stones are set in 15 karat gold mounts which are unmarked but have been acid tested to verify purity. Each earring measures 20.2 mm from top to bottom and 15.1 mm across and together they weigh 6.3 grams.
When a band plays and all that velvet and diamonds is swept around the room the sparkles go everywhere, doing a dance all their own.
