She wasn’t American, she wasn’t English, she was Scottish. She didn’t drink Whiskey, she drank Scotch. When possible she went with Chivas, 18 year. Wonderfully warm and rich, with that bite on the back end that only Scotch can deliver. She loved to swirl it in her glass and watch it catch the light, the fabulous deep golden color was part of the experience. When she came across these earrings she knew she had to have them, like a little bit of her Highland home frozen in time.
Hand crafted in Victorian Britain, these wonderful earrings are set with beautifully contrasting purple amethyst and whiskey colored citrines. This pendant was likely created from something else, perhaps cufflinks or buttons, I purchased them in their current rendition. The earrings are done in 9 karat gold and each are set with a 4.3 carat round faceted amethyst and six round faceted citrines which add up to 4.6 carats in total weight. The earrings measure 23 mm from top to bottom not including the wires and 23 mm across. These earrings weigh 8.6 grams together. These beauties are not marked but have been acid tested to verify content,
Citrine and amethyst are close cousins and were mined on the island of Arran, in Scotland. They were both used in a lot of highland jewelry throughout the ages.
