‘Do you like these?’ I asked him, fingering my earrings.
‘Aye, they’re right bonnie’, he responded.
I’d noticed his eyes going to them all evening. I’d also noticed his chiseled jawline, his quiet intensity and his bright laughing blue eyes.
‘Would you like to dance with the lady who sports them?’ I suggested, not so subtly.
‘Aye, that’d be braw’, he smiled and it lit up the room.
These wonderful Scottish Victorian silver earrings are set with an array of colorful stones, rich red carnelian, deep green bloodstone and gray/white Montrose agate. The motif is that of a shield with an X over it, symbolic of St. Andrew, the patron Saint of Scotland. Set in silver, these lovely earrings were hand crafted circa 1880 and measure 29.6 mm from top to bottom and 13.8 mm across, together they weigh 3.1 grams. These beauties are unmarked and have been acid tested to verify the metal as sterling silver.
With a kilt, with a plaid, or just with a little black dress, these wonderful earrings are sure to impress.
