Antique Edwardian Amethyst Pendant in 9k Gold

A row of two story brick buildings with first floor awnings and rounded door tops lines Vyse Street in the lovely industrial town of Birmingham, England. A wonderful green and gold clock with glassily lanterns marks one of what is known as the ‘Jewellery Quarter’. This pendant was made here, on this street, by the brothers Charles and William Sheldon, sometime between 1913 and 1916.

Beautifully hand crafted in 9 karat gold and set with a sparkling amethyst at its center, this wonderful pendant shows a strong Art Nouveau influence. The pendant measures 40 mm top to bottom and 33 mm across. It is marked on the back with ‘9Ct Gold’ and ’S.Bros’. It would be lovely on a simple gold chain or even a silk cord.
