Victorian Faceted Garnet Solitaire RIng

Garnets were one of the Victorians favorite stones, I think it has to do with the way they look in candlelight, or possibly it's because their rich color was associated with love and affairs of the heart.  They are undeniably romantic, both sensuous and elegant.  Very, very Victorian.

This antique garnet solitaire gold ring was handcrafted in England around 1870. It features an rectangular faceted garnet set in 9 karat gold with engraved shoulders boasting a scrolling motif. The garnet measures 8 x 7 x 4.1 mm and weighs approximately 2.24 carats. The ring face measures 11.2 x 12 x 4.5 mm off the finger. It bears no marks and it has been acid tested.

This ring is the epitome of chic. Its design is classic, with a solitaire stone and just the right amount of delicate.
