Georgian Carnelian Gold 'United' Seal with Birds

He finished his letter with a flourished signature and folded it into thirds, then he patiently while the wax dripped onto the outer fold. When the pool of red sealing wax was large enough, he blew on it once to see how liquid it was and then, satisfied it was the right viscosity, he pressed his seal into it, letting it linger a moment before removing it. The message on the inside conveyed his dearest desire for peace, for unity, and the seal he used drove the message home.

This fantastic Georgian era seal was hand carved and hand crafted around 1820, in England. It is engraved with two birds sitting on a leafy tree branch and the word ‘UNITED’ above them. The rich orange-red carnelian stone is set into a frame and fob of 9 karat gold kissed with a rosy hue. The fob measures 21.5 x 15.5 mm across the engraved face and sits 15.7 mm high, it weighs 2.5 grams. This is a medium sized fob which would be excellent on a bracelet or as a pendant.
