They were married at sundown and the yellow light of the setting sun turned her hair to spun gold and made it seem as though the very earth itself was celebrating their union along with the friends and family gathered all around. He slipped a ring on her finger that was as warm and golden as the setting sun. Every time she looked at it for decades to come she recalled his face as it looked just as he’d sipped it on, lit with joy and the light of that setting sun.

She woke up to a rustic, metallic autumn morning. Coffee. It's always time for more coffee. And a good book. Coffee and Hemingway.
Sigh. It's the simple things.
Walking her chocolate lab, Minnie. Jumping with her galoshes in crunchy piles of orange and brown leaves. Watching the cloud shapes morph as they pass over the lake. More coffee.
And rings like this one. Solid, simple, sparkling in the autumn morning sun. Flashing with each throw of a beloved tennis ball.
