I don’t know how many Austen’s there were in Georgian England, probably more than a few. This one was named Ann, she was born in 1759 and died in 1813 at what was no doubt then the ripe old age of 54. This ring was made in her honor, after her death. The top features a foil backed amethyst gem surrounded by faceted jet gems, the reverse reads “Ann Austen, Obt 14th Oct 1813 at 54”, this ring testes as 15 karat gold and is a size 8.75. The face of this ring measures 10.4 mm north to south and 13.8 mm across, it sits 3.1 mm off the finger and weighs 2.8 grams.
