Here is a wonderful and cheeky rooster who is beautifully hand crafted. The body of the bird is created from a large, natural, Baroque Pearl. His tail is set with a spray of rubies, diamonds and sapphires; and his head is further set with rubies, sapphires and emeralds. The brooch is fully engraved with fanciful and realistic details down to the toes on its perfect little feet.
This piece is marked on the back of the leg, but I was not able to make these marks out. It was most likely made in France in the 1940s, at a time when these brooches were highly desirable and created by many of the important jewelry houses. Buccellati, Cartier, Yard and Tiffany all crafted brooches in this genre, many with a pearl as the central body of the animal. It's quite possible this brooch was created by one of these important houses. It's beautifully crafted, note how the back is left open to reveal the back of this magnificent, 60 carat natural pearl.
The body of this piece tests as 18 karat gold and the diamonds are set in platinum. The pin stem has a trombone style clasp. The brooch measures 55 x 53x 17 mm and weighs 21.56 grams.
This piece has been expertly appraised by an independent appraiser and has a value of $15,000. Please inquire for a full copy of the detailed appraisal.

My heart belongs to the Roaring Twenties. Between F. Scott Fitzgerald, T.S. Eliot, Louis Armstrong, and the Charleston, I know I was born decades too late. Ladies donned flapper dresses with t-strap heals and beaded headbands. Jewelry was minimal, so they had to make it count. I would have worn a long pearl necklace to accentuate my bob and on my hand would be this dazzling ring, sparkling as I adjust my silk fringe wrap.
This is a ring that glitters and glitters and glitters. This antique piece was handcrafted around 1915-20. It’s a five-stone diamond platinum stunner on a size 8.25 US band that weighs 4.1 grams. The largest diamond is at the center, measuring 5.1 x 4.6 x 3.3 mm and weighing .55 carats. Altogether, the Old European cut stones weigh approximately 2.2 carats. The ring face measures 6.4 mm north to south and 21 mm across the face and sits 5.4 mm off the finger, it narrows to 1.4 mm at the back of the band. There are no marks and it has been acid tested.
This engagement ring (or wedding band, or anniversary ring or just because you deserve it ring) is to die for! It’s elegant and charming, glittering and simple. She’ll love it!

Banking is a relatively new idea. Before the 19th century most people wore their wealth. The original idea of the chain, for example, was that you could pay for something by taking a link off of your chain, be it gold or silver. Precious metal has always equalled money, it was a good idea then and it remains a good idea today. Now, I wouldn't recommend paying for your Moët with a link off of this gorgeous French chain, but I suppose you could if you had to!
Honestly, everyone really needs to own one of these long gold chains. Preferable two or three, if you can swing it, but if you're limited to one, this one is a particularly good place to start. Intricate, glowing links with the feel of soft silk that only old gold seems to achieve. This chain is completely hand made of large fancy links with a round links between teardrop links framed with intermittent small plain links. Each link is individually hand soldered and the chain has a matching large round spring ring clasp which attaches to both ends and would originally have been used to hang a watch. The chain is 50 inches long and tests as 18 karat gold. This chain was likely made around 1900. The chain weighs 46.9 grams.
These chains are getting harder and harder to come by as many were broken up into several shorter lengths over time. It's always a treat when I find an original old long guard like this one!

There's something about unapologetically giving into temptation. Especially when diamond earrings are at hand. They're addicting like red wine, smooth like bourbon, and satisfying like champagne. They shimmy and shake with the light, sparkly with every turn of your beautiful head. They make you sit a little taller, turn your swan-like neck a little more than you otherwise might. They look breathtaking on your ears.
Handcrafted in England, these Victorian diamond earrings were made in 1850. Each earring contains five winking old diamonds. One diamond peaks the top, three are lined below, and one bright star of the show hangs at the bottom, the shape is reminiscent of an acorn or a snowdrop flower. The diamonds are silver set and backed in 18 karat gold, the earring backs for the posts are platinum. The diamonds are all old European cuts, the center stone on each is approximately .5 carats and all told the earrings add up to about 1.8 carats total diamond weight. They are unmarked but have been acid tested. These fantastic diamond drops were most certainly made up from something else, maybe drops on a necklace, or part of different pair of earrings or even a brooch, they were re-made at some point into these totally wearable and more-interesting than your basic stud earrings. When they were converted they were plated in white gold. Together, they weigh 4.3 grams and they measure 3/4 of an inch long.
Your ears are with your heart on this one, give into the temptation wholehearted, after all, you really do deserve these dazzling drops of sparkle!

Are you looking for the perfect diamond solitaire engagement for the perfect lady? Lucky you, you just found it!
Old cut diamonds can be dangerous. The more of them you see, the more of them you desire to own! Whereas modern brilliant cut diamonds can be nice and sparkly, old European cuts like these are more like individual works of art. Hand cut by master craftsmen who spent decades learning their craft; these cutters used no computers, no lasers, they used their eyes, their experience and their hands, often cutting the stones with tools they had made themselves. The result is a diamond with a uniqueness of character that simply cannot be found in today's modern cut stones. This European ring was made in about 1915 and showcases an Old European cut diamond with large cut facets that cause it to flash with slow and stunning flashes of colorful fire.
This ring was hand crafted in Platinum and is set with a stunning approximately 1.3 carat round faceted mine cut diamond. The stone is approximately a VS2 in clarity, extremely clean, and H in color. It is highlighted on either side with two small diamonds. The diamond measures 7.6 mm across and is 3.8 mm deep, and is set in an all platinum mounting that it is unmarked but has been carefully acid tested, the top of the diamond sits 5.5 mm off the finger and the ring weighs 2 grams. It has a fantastically crown style under mount which lets lots of light in to play fabulously tricks with this gorgeous diamond!
As an engagement ring, this one would make any girl swoon. A very, very lovely and romantic specimen of a ring. Don't worry, finding a ring is the easy part, you've already done the hard part, you found the girl!
This ring comes with a full appraisal and is valued at $22,000.00 USD.

He stood under a sprawling old oak tree, it’s spreading branches shading the guest in rows of white chairs. She didn’t see the guest, didn’t see the tree, the blue sky dotted with puffy white clouds. She only had eyes for him, and he for her.
These elegant antique diamond and pearl drop earrings were handcrafted around 1915. They’re a beautiful set of graceful design, set with 58 Old European cut diamonds and four spherical pearls in platinum over 18 karat gold. They stood next to each other as he slipped the diamond ring on her finger. They kissed for the first time after becoming officially each other’s. We sat at an outdoor café in Cannes, while dining on butter cake and scotch. It was the perfect weather, mid 60’s, light breeze. I wore a simple white silk wrap dress with a chain wrapped around my neck in layers. I waved to Hirokazu Kore'eda. He waved back.
‘You know him?’
‘Seems that way.’
I took a sip, admiring the thespians and writers scrambling around the town. There was talk about having to wear heels and gowns and jewels just to be allowed in the festivities.
‘It’s a bit much, wouldn’t you say, Victoria?’
‘I would say. But I got away with it.’
This stunning gold chain was handcrafted in France around 1900. It’s an extraordinary 47 inches in length with a fairly light weight of 35.2 grams. When I was a kid, I would beg and plead for my parents to take me to the movie theatre; some would say I was obsessed. I used to turn around and look at the projector, I’d gaze at the little speck of bright light that glowed like the moon against the dark. It looked like a sparkling diamond, full of time and full of history. This brooch reminds me of that speck of light, a moon with diamonds that radiates, even in twilight.
This antique diamond and pearl crescent moon brooch sparkles with light. It was handcrafted in France around 1880. It’s decorated with six Old European cut diamonds patterned among nine pearls, set in silver over 18 karat gold. Each of the larger pearls measure 3.5 mm in diameter. The diamonds weigh approximately 1.32 total carats. This beautiful pin measures 32.4 x 34 mm and it weighs 9.5 grams. It bears French marks on the pin stem and has been acid tested.
Let this crescent moon brooch light up your lapel with its glittery diamonds and shiny white pearls.

She was in love with Art Nouveau, with the whiplash lines, the organic feel. She had purchased a property at 29 Avenue Rapp, in the 7th arrondissement in Paris. She would build an apartment building, make money and keep the 5th floor for her own use. She was meeting today with Jules Aimé Lavirotte, who designed buildings with exuberant and imaginative decoration, buildings that spoke to the artist in her soul. She wore this ring, she knew he would love it. He did.
This Art Nouveau ring would be called Edwardian if it was English; not at all an ugly name, though perhaps a bit masculine for describing this light and airy style. Luckily for this ring, it’s French, it’s get’s to go by a much better name, this ring is Belle Époque, which translates as ‘Beautiful Era’, and indeed it is. Hand crafted in 18 karat and platinum topped, it is set with 31 bright and sparkly diamonds. The three larger stones are set as flowers on rose cut diamond encrusted stems, the center stone is .5 carats, the other two are .25 and .35 carats for a total diamond weight of 1.0 carats not including the rose cuts. The ring is marked on the back of the band with the French Eagle’s head mark and the number ’11464’ (most likely and insurance mark), it also has a partial French makers mark. The ring measures 27.5 mm north to south and 20 mm across, it sits 6.5 mm off the finger. This ring is a size 7.25 US and could be resized slightly, it weighs 5.1 grams.
Made in France in about 1910.

It’s the most flattering of accessories one can drape around the neck, accentuating curves, giving glint where it should be given, like the nape of the neck and the edge of the collarbone. It’s almost risqué, how silky the rich gold hangs, so exquisitely timeless. I know you know what I mean. It’s electric, mysterious even, at least to the rest of them. They’ll ask you about it, I’m sure, wondering what lengths you had to go to. How shall you respond? With a glance that says, “A lady never tells.”
This antique gold chain was handcrafted in France around 1880. It measures a lengthy 52 inches and weighs 26.7 grams. A parure is a set of various items of matching jewelry which rose to popularity in 17th-century Europe. Reserved for royalty and the wealthier classes, no woman was considered socially acceptable without a complete wardrobe of jewelry that defined her status, strength and political power. A matching suite of coordinating pieces could include a necklace, a comb, a tiara, a diadem, a bandeau, a pair of bracelets, pins, rings, drop earrings or cluster stud earrings, brooch and a belt clasp that might be worn over a fine dress. Napoleon was fond of lavishing these gem suites on his beloved first wife, Joséphine, to wear at state functions. Later, he gave similar sets to his second wife, Marie-Louise. From the Old French, "parer" means adornment, from the verb parer, to adorn.
Look what I found on my last trip to London; a gorgeous 15k gold garnet cabochon snake earrings and matching pendant parure! The main pendant weighs 11.3 grams and has an approximately 11 ct deep oval cabochon garnet which measures 17.6*12.7*4.6mm deep. The earrings have deep oval cabochon garnets each around four carats, measuring 11.1*9.5*3.5mm deep. All told this gorgeous hand made parure has a total of over 28 carats of antique cabochon cut garnets.
Ready to be worn on a trip to London, Bath, or even by the sea in Cornwall!
The pendant weighs 11.3 gm, the stones total approximately 14.44 carats. The earrings weigh 13 g each and the approximate stone total carat weight is 14.04. All three items are marked with a plaque on back that reads '15CT.'

Curiouser and curiouser. Reminiscent of a demon with its haunting red eyes, but also suggestive of a soothsayer with its long beard and mysterious existence. It’s rings like this that capture my imagination and make me wonder the most wondrous of things. I found this interesting bauble in Amsterdam a few weeks ago. I had just polished off a toffee souffle at Vinkeles and was going for a twilight stroll when a small garden level storefront caught my eye. It didn’t take me long until I had a handful of goodies, including this intriguing charmer.
This amazing gold ring was handcrafted around 1900. It’s a creative piece, with demons as the shoulders with red ruby eyes and a sparkling cluster of diamonds at the center. This ring consists of 16 old European cut diamonds, totaling an approximate weight of 1.275 carats. The center diamond measures 5 x 5 x 3.5 mm, weighing approximately .60 carats. The ring face measures 10.5 mm north to south and 23.7 mm across, and 5 mm off the finger. The band width narrows to 3.3 mm at the back of the band. This ring is a size 8 and it weighs 8.2 grams. It bears no marks and has been acid tested.
Wear a little mystery on your finger! I love this fabulous little bauble and I just know you will, too.

In March of 2012, workers restoring a building in St. Petersburg found a hoard of over 1,000 pieces of silver, jewelry and precious objects hidden in a secret storage space between two floors. The items were wrapped in newspaper that dated from the early months of 1917, around the time of the February Revolution which toppled the last Tsar of Russia, Nicholas II. The building was a palace which had belonged to one of Russia’s most prominent noble families, the Naryshkins.
As World War I pushed Russia to the brink of it’s resources, and it’s large army was led to ruinous battles by a lack of leadership, the Russian ruble was driven into deep recession and the Russian people were driven into starvation. In March of 1917, the Tsar was overthrown and forced to abdicate and the nobility of Russia fled to other parts of the world or were imprisoned or sent to Siberia. Tsar Nicholas and his family were taken away and eventually detained in a house in Yekaterinburg where they were brutally murdered in the basement in the wee hours of July 17, 1918. When the bodies were searched, the guards found jewelry, gems, and strings of pearls sewn into their clothing.
This fantastic bracelet was made in Russia in about 1914, only a few years before the Revolution. Was it made for nobility? Did it ride out of Russia in the early days of 1917 sewn into the lining of a fur coat? Was it discovered hidden in a wall or under a floor, dug up by an unsuspecting farmer? I don’t know, I don’t guess we’ll ever know. I purchased it in London from a lovely lady who purchased it in Poland. It’s probably gone through more than a few hands since it’s creation, graced more than a few wrists.
This fabulous bracelet was hand crafted by a master craftsman and is bezel set with a fabulous bright blue antique cushion cut, 3 carat natural sapphire which shows no signs of enhancement. The stone weight was estimated in the mounting. It is further set with 18 full cut and 48 rose cut diamonds which add up to approximately 3.12 carats total weight. This piece is fully hallmarked with Russian marks and these marks indicate it’s metal fineness at 14 karat gold, the stones are set in platinum. The gold has a rosy hue, the metals were also acid tested to verify content. This bracelet is 7 inches long and weighs 15.6 grams. The overall face measures 46.1 mm from north to south and narrows to 3 mm wide at the back. There is a slot catch with safety clasp. This piece comes with a full appraisal and is valued at $45,000, it also includes an AGL certification which reports that the sapphire is unheated and untreated and is Ceylon in origin.
This fantastic Russian beauty makes me wish (not for the first time) that jewelry could talk. What a tale it would have to tell. If you feel you need a mesmerizing jewel with an important past that you can wear for now and sew into the lining of your yoga pants if the Bolsheviks should rise up yet again, this stunning bracelet would certainly be an excellent choice!

They were in the basement of a wine shop down a narrow alley-way in Paris. It was nearing midnight as they tasted their third glass of wine, this one from the French Auvergne region. Her cheeks were rosy and his eyes were all over her, her dark blonde hair, scattered freckles, and adorably wide grin. They talked about the wine, pretending to know anything about it, using words like lacing, woody, and unctuous. They were celebrating one year of being together and thought that touring The City of Lights sounded delicious and decadent. She was telling him a story about getting lost in Paris when she visited years back. He was listening intently as he pulled a small red ring box from his jacket pocket. She slowly stopped speaking, letting her sentence end in the middle, as speechlessness took her over. She watched him open the box and then he said, “I want to marry you. Will you do me the honor?” Her eyes dashed back and forth between his blue irises, blissful. She said yes so loudly the manager came down to make sure they were all right. He slid the ring on her finger, as she gazed at it in utter amazement. Their host brought them a complimentary bottle, this one from the Alsace region. A little while later, the newly engaged couple walked to their hotel room, hand in hand, cheek to cheek, watching as her ring captured and reflected every light in the city.
This antique Victorian diamond solitaire ring was handcrafted in London, around 1880. It features a stunning Old European cushion cut diamond that measures 7 x 6.3 x 4 mm. The clean and bright 1.2 carat diamond is belcher set in 18 karat gold. This piece is hallmarked and bears the crown, meaning it was made in England, the number, ‘18’, indicating the gold purity content, a crown, for the London Assay Office, and the letter date, which is no longer legible. This ring weighs 5.2 grams and is a size 9.
For a marvelous engagement ring, or the best surprise you’ll ever gift her, this piece of the Victorian Era will show her how often you think of her, and how special she is to you. Oh, and by the way, this ring would be equally as stunning on a man as on a woman!

This chain is for romantic nights in Italy with sweet red wine on a brown brick terrace. It’s for golden sunsets in the distance with a nice looking man, with a smile as wide as the horizon. It’s for chatting with strangers, shopping at the Mercatino della Pineta, and smelling those roses in the gardens of Florence.
This antique Victorian gold link chain was handcrafted in England around 1890. This link chain necklace is 21 inches in length and weighs 44.6 grams. All but four of the links are made in 15 karat gold and measure 24 x 6.4 mm each. At one point during the history of this beautiful antique chain, four more links were added in the back, around the clasp, they are made in 9 karat gold and measure 25.5 x 7 mm; they are perfectly color matched. This piece has been acid tested. Many of the links bear gold purity hallmarks that read, ‘15’, and ‘.625’. There is also a faded maker’s mark.
Versatile. Gold. Antique. What more could a woman ask for?

Old cut diamonds can be dangerous. The more of them you see, the more of them you desire to own. Whereas modern brilliant cut diamonds can be nice and sparkly, old European cuts like these are more like individual works of art. Stones like these were hand cut by craftsmen who spent decades learning their craft. These cutters used no computers, no lasers, they used their eyes, their experience and their hands, often cutting with tools they had made themselves. The result is a diamond with a uniqueness of character that simply cannot be found in todays modern cut stones. This ring showcases five old European cut diamonds with large cut facets that cause it to flash with slow and stunning sparks of colorful fire.
This beautifully hand crafted 5 stone diamond ring is set with a stunning array of sparkling gems. The five larger stones are all old European cut diamonds, the center weighs approximately .75 carats and the close sides are about .45 carats each, the outside two are approximately .2 carats each. In between each larger diamond are rose cut diamonds to give the ring the look of a solid line of sparkling diamond. The diamond weight on this ring totals approximately 2.1 carats. This ring measures 5.7 mm north to south and 20 mm across, it sits 4.4 mm off the finger. This ring is a size 4.75 and weighs 3.1 grams. The ring is made of 18 karat gold and bears no hallmarks, it has been acid tested to verify the gold content.
This gorgeous ring was most likely made in England around 1890.

She wore rubies. Not diamonds, no nothing as pedestrian as that. Not sapphires, for though they had appeal she knew in her heart of hearts that she was a rare gem indeed and only the most rare and sought after was good enough for her. So, she sought out that most elusive castle in the air, the pure and untreated ruby, a stone that was pulled from the ground with this color, already so fiery it seemed hot to the touch. This was her ring.
Rubies this exceptional do not cross my path (or anyone else's for that matter) every day, so when I had this one in my hand and it was hit by the early morning light through the conservatory roof, well, I about fell out of my chair! Five all natural and amazing rubies are set into a traditional five stone ring studded with rose cut diamonds. This style of ring with it’s wonderful richly carved sides and shoulders was very popular in the late Victorian era. These stones are truly stunning, they are a true bright red in color, rich and deep and they are wonderfully cut and faceted to catch the light and turn it the brightest, deepest red. Looking at these you can truly understand why this stone is sometimes referred to as 'pigeon's blood'.
Handcrafted in 18 karat yellow gold in about 1900, this ring would surely have belonged to someone quite important, most likely it was even custom made for this important someone (who may well have been a man or a woman). It is in excellent condition and the stones all appear to be original and beautifully matched. I estimated the total weight of the rubies in the mount at 2.2 carats. The center stone is measured at 6.1x4.5x2.2 mm and weighs about .6 carats, the next two are .55 each and the end stones about .25 carats each. These appear to be natural, untreated Burma rubies. The full appraised value of this ring is $8,000 USD. Untreated rubies are rare and knowing that these gorgeous stones came out of the ground just as they are with no enhancements gives this ring an extra layer of cachet, a quality noticeable even to the untrained eye.
The ring is a size 6.5 US and measures 7.2 mm north to south and 19 mm across, it weighs 6 grams. It would be difficult to re-size this ring up or down by very much, if you’re curious let me know your size and I’ll ask my jeweler if it can be done. It is marked with '18ct'.
This would make a very meaningful and unusual engagement ring. When I have it on my finger, I find it simply impossible to take my eyes off of it. Perhaps she's got a sentimental streak? Rubies have been associated with love and matters of the heart throughout the ages.

Leonardo Da Vinci attributed amethysts to the power of intelligence. He thought the stone had the ability to dissipate evil thoughts. Until the 18th century, amethysts were considered a cardinal gemstone, they were as valuable as diamonds, sapphires, rubies, and emeralds. For centuries, amethysts adorned the heads and fingers of British and Russian royalty, as well as clergyman.
This elegant antique Edwardian amethyst and gold three-piece set was handcrafted around 1900. This set bears French import marks including the owl hallmark, and was likely made in England. This 18 karat gold set contains a solitaire ring, a set of stud earrings, and a matching gradient necklace.
The ring is a size 4.25 with the amethyst weighing approximately 2.74 carats. The oval amethyst measures 10 x 8.2 x 6.3 mm and the ring face measures 12 x 10 x 6.3 mm off the finger. The band width is 2.1 mm at the back.
The set of earrings boast a total of two oval amethysts, totaling an approximate weight of 1.74 carats. Individually, each earring measures 9 x 7.5 x 4.5 mm.
The gradient necklace measures 14.5 inches in length and contains a safety chain for extra protection. It features 26 oval faceted stones set in 18 karat gold. The largest amethyst measures 9.5 x 12.5 x 7.3 mm and weighs approximately 4.95 carats while the smallest amethyst measures 5.4 x 6.6 x 3 mm and weighs approximately .57 carats.
My strong suspicion is that the earrings and ring were once part of the necklace and were taken off and crafted into additional accessories. If requested, these pieces could become part of the necklace again. This set weighs a total of 33.9 grams. Each piece has been professionally acid tested.
Fun fact: Valentine, the patron saint of romance is said to have worn an amethyst ring that bore a carved motif of Cupid.

Some things are just so fun to photograph, you barely kiss them with the light and they start to send rainbows of color all over the room. These earrings were like that, set with diamonds so bright and sparkly that they seemed to dance under my lens. The gold seems to have an extra rich glow in their presence. Indeed, a joy to photograph. You know what else would make a great portrait? You. In these.
Hand crafted around 1880 in 18 karat gold, these Victorian beauties didn’t start out life as earrings. Their constructions leads me to believe that they were probably buttons, and there were probably a lot of them, can’t you just imagine how opulent and amazing that dress must have been? Well, they do their buttony-selves justice in their current life as wonderful post-set earrings. The diamonds in these earrings are quite high quality and each ear holds seven of them, each weighing approximately .17 carats each for a total diamond weight of about 2.4 carats (1.2 ctw per ear). The diamonds are all old European round cuts and the unmarked mountings test as 18 karat gold. The backs test as 9 karat gold. The earrings measure 14.2 mm across the long way and 13.4 mm across the short way and are 3.5 mm thick.
Bright and sparkly and certainly better than your run-of-the-mill studs, these fantastic earrings would transition from day to night as easily as they went from coat to ear!

The year was 1874, Winston Churchill was born, the son of a British Lord and an American socialite. Maybe Lord Churchill give his wife this ring to celebrate the birth of his son? Probably not, but a girl can dream! And since jewelry doesn’t tell any tales, there’s no way we will ever truly know.
What we do know for sure is that this gorgeous ring was hand crafted in Birmingham, England in 1874. We also know that it is set with 9 bright and sparkling Old European cut diamonds that glitter and sparkle with your every move. The center stone measures 5 x 4.65 x 3.8 mm and weighs approximately .75 carats, it is a lovely clean and white stone; it has a supporting cast of 8 smaller diamonds, each of which weighs approximately .14 carats. The total diamond weight of the ring is about 2 carats. The shank is crafted in 18 karat gold and is marked inside the band with the crown (England), the anchor (Birmingham), the number ’18’ (karat) and the letter z (1874). It has lovely carved shoulders and a thick shank. The ring is a size 7.75 US and my jeweler suggests that it won’t tolerate re-sizing by very much. The ring measures 11.9 mm north to south and across the face and narrows to 3 mm at the back of the band, it weighs 5.3 grams.
This fabulous diamond cluster ring would make a wonderful ring for any occasion, from the most important to ‘just because’!

They walked around the outskirts of the park, chatting about their day and talking about dinner possibilities. The weather was humid and warm, and the sky was slowly fading into a starry night. They joked and laughed about so and so at work and her crazy Aunt at the last family get together. He walked next to her, standing toward the outside of the sidewalk, like a gentleman. He offered his jacket when the wind picked up. He even asked if she wanted a piggy back ride over a puddle. She chuckled at his suggestion, and he said he only had one more question. He pulled out a diamond ring, with three glimmering stones, and said, "Will you marry me?"
This stunning vintage diamond ring features three Old European cut diamonds across the face, set in 18 karat white gold. The center stone weighs approximately .62 carats, the side stones are about .51 and .53 carats each, for a grand total of about 1.66 carats. The stones are beautiful white and clean diamond. In early Spring, before the leaves begin to deepen into summer green, before the flowers open and release their heady fragrance, the hills around my home seem to glow with a halo of pure, Spring green. It tickles the eyeballs and delights the senses, a landscape reborn. When I saw these earrings, sitting in windowed office watching the snow fall on frosty London, it reminded me of the green hills of home. The pure verdant green hue of that most rare and precious gem, the emerald. Here the emerald is the star of the show, but oh what a wonderful cast it has to support it, in the form of over 2 carats of spectacular old cut diamonds!

One of the joys of being someone who deals in vintage and antique jewelry is finding that one elusive treasure. That amazing jewel which is like no other you’ve come across before. When it’s something as beautiful and rare as this ring, it just makes you weak in the knees.
This fantastic Art Deco French cut diamond eternity band just wasn’t a ring that I could walk away from, I absolutely had to have it. This beautifully hand crafted platinum band is set with 23 diamonds which measure about 3x3x2.4 mm each and weigh about .15 carats each for a total diamond weight of about 3.25 carats. The stones display the cross and open cutlet of wonderful, early French cuts and are nice, white and clean stones. The ring measures 3.6 mm north to south and sits 2.5 mm off the finger. The edges of this ring are richly engraved with swirling details. The inside of the band is marked ‘P950’ for the platinum content. This hand crafted ring was made around 1920, it weighs 4.7 grams.
For an engagement ring she’ll never tire of, or a wedding ring that will be a solitaires best friend, alone or stacked, this ring is a once in a lifetime beauty.

I arrived early in the morning at my friends shop in East London. He unlocked the door for me and I handed him a white tea with four sugars, he grinned. We spent the next several hours shooting the breeze and enjoying each others company as we delved into his cases and looked at fantastic jewels. I was just about to walk out the door, coat on, money exchanged, hugs given, when I spotted this ring in the corner of a case by the front door. Well, I just had to turn around and declare that our visit wasn’t yet done. This ring, this ring I simply had to have.
This swirling gold Art Nouveau beauty has a most amazing weight and feel on the hand; it is set with 3 sparkling Old European cut diamonds. The three stones weigh approximately .35 carats each for a total diamond weight of 1.05 carats. The ring itself measures 9 mm north to south and 18 mm across, the diamonds are flush mounted and it sits just 4.3 mm off the hand. Marked ‘14k’ inside the band for 14 karat gold, this ring is a size 7.75 and weighs 6.1 grams. Made in Europe around 1900.
For an engagement or an anniversary, for a birthday or even just because, this ring is practically perfect in every way.

Nature often inspired Art Nouveau jewelry, and this sparkling dragonfly brooch is no exception! During this era of artistry, dragonfly motifs grew in popularity and ended up on dresses, rings, hair pins, and necklaces. Dragonflies signify the embracing of change, as they can swoop, fly, vanish, and dart in the blink of an eye. They’re a graceful creature, that has been known to bring peace to those who have recently lost a loved one. This pin would stand out on the lapels of a white jacket, or function fashionably on the ends of a warm scarf.
This antique Art Nouveau ruby and diamond dragonfly brooch was handcrafted in France around 1900. The glittery wings and winking eyes are made up of 28 rose cut diamonds, while the body is made of eight faceted deep pink rubies. All of the gemstones are silver set and backed in 18 karat gold. This piece is hallmarked with the French gold purity content mark of an eagle’s head. It has been acid tested. The overall measurements are 32.6 x 38.7 mm with a weight of 6.5 grams.
Have all of your nature-inspired dreams come true with this French dragonfly brooch!

The Arts and Crafts movement in England began as a response to the Industrial Revolution and the mechanization of the decorative arts. It bloomed into one of the most enduring legacies of style to come out of the 19th and 20th centuries. Something about the return to hand crafting and the motifs of the natural world speaks to the very root of human nature.
This wonderful brooch was handcrafted in London around 1900-10, and was most likely done by Henry George Murphy. Anchored by a beautiful large opal gem, this brooch is framed in 15 karat gold with a scroll and foliate design. This rectangular brooch holds a large cabochon precious opal which measures 30 x 20 x 7 mm and weighs approximately 23 carats. Precious opals are known for their diffraction of light, called ‘play of color’, in which rainbow colors shine from inside the stone like a kaleidoscope of firelight. Overall, this piece measures 39.7 x 27.6 mm and it weighs 60.8 grams. It has been acid tested. This brooch comes in an antique box which reads, “Gieves 27 Old Bond Street London, W.I.”, most likely it’s not original to the brooch but it has kept it in good order over the years.
Henry George Murphy was part of the Central School of Arts and Crafts in London and later went on to become a silversmith of some renown, working mostly in the Art Deco style.
For all occasions and even non-occasions. This brooch is sheer perfection, it gives off color no matter where you are.

It was evening, twilight had passed, and I stepped out of the stretch limo, silk clutch in hand, lipstick in place. I was dressed to the nines. I’m talking stilettos, smoky eyes, soft blue gown of tulle and lace, a few thin platinum diamond bands and this necklace. There was a red carpet and cameras and onlookers. But I wasn’t paying all that much attention. I walked the line, stopping where I heard my name, never smiling at the camera. Until one of the photographers asked if it was Edwardian.
“You know your stuff, my dear.”
“It pops like a firework, Victoria.”
“It’s fire.”
I grinned, she snapped the picture, I continued on to the champagne and caviar.
This breathtaking Edwardian beauty was handcrafted around 1915. It’s a necklace smothered in elegance as it showcases 62 diamonds on a floral motif. There are 25 full-cut diamonds and 37 rose-cut diamonds. The full-cuts stones add up to approximately 1.25 carats total weight. The largest full-cut stone sits at the center and measures 4.8 x 4.9 x 2.9 mm, weighing approximately .45 carats. This endlessly sparkling necklace measures 16.25 inches in length and it weighs 7.8 grams. The drop measures 39 mm north to south and 29.4 mm across. This piece bears the horse head mark - a Polish import mark. It also bears a star mark and the number “950” indicating this piece was made in platinum. It has a 14-karat gold box barrel clasp and has been acid tested.
Make all your dreams come true with this jaw-dropping necklace. It’s truly a masterpiece that you get to wear around your neck whenever your heart desires.

There’s a joke about Wisconsin that goes like this: “Welcome to Wisconsin, where we have two seasons, Winter and ‘the other season’ ”. It’s true, winters here do seem to drag on a little too long and take up half the year. And while the winter here is beautiful I find that every once in while I have to hop on a plane and land somewhere (anywhere) lush and green. Just filling my eyes with the rich greens of the tropics does wonders for getting me through until May when the green starts edging back into my landscape. And in between trips to green places, I just pop on a ring like this, I find that a luscious emerald has the same effect on my psyche as a nice long walk in the jungle.
This fantastic diamond and emerald cluster ring showcases an Emerald cut emerald which measures 11.3 x 7 x 4.5 mm and weighs approximately 2.46 carats. The emerald is surrounded with a rectangular frame of Old European Cut diamonds; ten diamonds of .15 carats each are interspersed with twenty smaller .02 carat stones for a total diamond weight of approximately 2 carats. The ring is beautifully hand crafted in platinum with a lovely scrolling gallery underneath, it has a wonderful smooth feel and a low profile. This ring measures 18.8 mm north to south and 14.4 mm across and it sits 5.6 mm off the finger. This ring has some marks but I wasn’t able to sort out what they were because they’re a bit worn, it was certainly made in about 1910 and is European in origin. The ring is a size 6.75 and weighs 5.8 grams.
We are happy to provide a full appraisal on this ring and it’s contents done by a GIA master gemologist upon request, please note that appraisals take a week to ten days to complete.

Was it traditional? Or was it spontaneous? The way he sunk the ring in a glass of pink champagne at the restaurant, where they had their first date. She didn’t see it coming, the flute of bubbly had sat on the table for nearly 20 minutes before she took a sip and realized what was going on. He laughed at her reaction, that grin on her face that grew, how her eyes lit up brighter than the crystal chandelier on the ceiling. When he bent down on one knee and asked if she would marry him, her hands flew to her open jaw, and she squealed in delight as she said yes and kissed his lips. He slipped the ring on her finger and she gasped at the diamonds as they glistened and sparkled.
This breathtaking antique diamond marquis-shaped ring was handcrafted around 1910. Each of the 27 white diamonds are set in platinum, while the shank is made in 14 karat gold. The center diamond is a sight to behold, it’s a cushion cut that totals .5 carats! There are two more larger diamonds, one on top, and one below the center, that total .26 carats together. Every diamond radiates the colors of the rainbow, making your finger the luckiest of them all. The face measures 22 x 18 x 4.7 mm off the finger. This ring is a size 9 and weighs 4.0 grams. It is hallmarked with the gold purity mark, ‘585’.
I swear this ring glitters in the dark.

We had a party to celebrate her new status a citizen of the United States. We hung streamers and banners in red, white and blue and gave her a sash to wear in the same colors. She beamed, her eyes dancing with light, her sweet face graced with pride.
She had the soul of a writer and a more varied and interesting life than most can even imagine. She spoke four languages, fluently. She was born in Russia but lived parts of her life in various parts of the United States, lectured and wrote at Princeton, she lived in the UK, too, visited Switzerland, India and more. She married a famous architect and lived with him for a time. He bought her jewels. This was one of them. She was my friend and I was honored to know her, she was kind and funny and wicked smart.
This fabulously hand crafted bracelet was made in the mid-late 1960’s. It’s so beautifully made that I thought for sure it must be by some famous designer, but it bears no marks and my research turned up only some vague ideas. It is a gloriously heavy length of 80.82 grams of 18 karat gold artfully wrapped around 35 bright blue sapphires of varying sizes which add up to 11.34 carats total weight. It is additionally set with 45 high luster pearls, white with silvery overtones, these being 2.5 and 6 mm each. The bracelet is 6.5 inches long with a delightfully hidden clasp, it measures 21 mm wide and 8 mm deep.
This bracelet comes with a full independent appraisal, the appraised value is $15,000 USD.

Like a little black dress or strappy heels, a long gold chain is truly a staple of any well dressed woman’s wardrobe. It can be worn in so many ways to accommodate all different kinds of outfits and necklines. I recommend having a few of these on hand to layer and loop, but if you’re looking for your first one, this one is a great place to start.
This fully hand crafted chain was made in France around 1900 and has beautiful scrolling alternating links. The chain is 56 inches long and has a jump ring but no clasp, as is typical for these French long guard chains. The larger links measure 11.8 x 5.3 mm and the smaller ones are 8.5 x 3.9 mm. The chain has the French weevil assay mark which indicates a minimum fineness of 18 karat gold, we’ve also acid tested it to verify it’s 18k content. This buttery yellow chain has rich detail that excites the eye. It weighs 31.3 grams.
