Georgian Amethyst Rose Cut Diamond Ring

A ring like this one was likely the first jewel that would be worn when a Goeorgian lady was moving out of the first year of mourning, purple was the first color that could be introduced after wearing all black for a year, and along with white and gray, could be added in little splashes, like this fabulous ring.

This hand crafted ring was made in England in about 1830, it is set with one step cut rich purple amethyst which has been out and weighed at 2.36 carats, it measures 91.x7.6x4.9 mm, on each side of the center stone are two rose cut diamonds with fabulous sparkle, 2 are 3 mm and 2 are 3.5 mm each. The ring measures 9.9 mm north to south at the front and sits 4.9 mm off the finger, it is a size 7. This ring is unmarked but tests as 15 karat gold and the diamonds are set in silver, it weighs 2.6 grams.

This Georgian Dame got a little new life breathed into her old bones of late, she was in rough shape when we found her, so we opened up the back and removed the discolored foil, we left the bezel open, this way it can be worn and enjoyed and cleaned! We think we dusted her up pretty good!
