I’ve always found the combination of onyx, the blackest of the agates, and diamond, the whitest of the gems, to be the most beguiling of mixes. There is just something so Great Gatsby about a ring like this one, makes me want to load up the RR Phantom and head out to Great Neck for the weekend. I’d rock this beauty every night, with fringe, and sequins, lots of sequins.
This wonderful 1920s Art Deco Era ring is bold and sparkly with a great eye to detail. The ring features a large oval of soft, smooth onyx which measures 24.5x13.2 mm. The onyx is drilled out and set with a winking .2 carat Old European cut diamond in a platinum bezel. The ring is further set with 3 diamonds in each shoulder, in total the 7 stones in this ring add up to .95 carats and all are set in platinum. The ring is crafted in 14 karat gold and has fabulous style with engraving all the way around in strong, bold, Art Deco lines. This ring is a size 6 but could be sized up a bit, it’s large in scale measuring 25.9 mm north to south and 21 mm across at the largest part, it sits 5.7 mm off the finger and narrows to 1.2 mm at the back of the band. This wonderful ring weighs 5.5 grams. Most likely American in origin, this unmarked ring tests as 14 karat gold.
