Edwardian Opal Diamond Cluster Ring 14k Gold

$ 4,500.00

There are some cultures that say that opals were formed when the an angry god hurled a rainbow at the earth and it shattered. In the place where the pieces landed, opals were formed. Looking deeply into this stunning blue-green opal makes it easy for one to believe that this is true. A myriad of colors are contained in this fantastic opal, blues, greens, orange, red, yellow and violet, all lie herein. This rich riot of color is surrounded by a halo of bright old European cut diamonds, a ring reminiscent of a colorful aurora in a night sky sparkling with stars

Handcrafted in about 1915, this wonderful ring is made in 14 karat gold and is likely European in origin. The star of this show is the fantastic, smooth cabochon cut opal at it’s center; the stone measures 11.5x7.2x4 mm and weighs approximately 2.2 carats. Surrounding the central stone are 20, .03 carat diamonds in a mix of Old European and transitional cuts, a total of .6 carats of diamonds. The ring measures 16.4 mm north to south and 11.3 mm across, it sits 11.8 mm off the finger, is a size 7.5 and weighs 3.1 grams. This ring is unmarked but tests as 14 karat gold.
