It sat on her finger with ease and a sense of casual. She’d had it ever since her mother gifted it to her for a birthday many years before. It had become a part of her ritual, and it felt like something was missing if she didn’t slip it on in the morning. It was the color of ripened plums in the summer, and black violets in the spring. It was like spicy wine, dusk in August, and the color of the brick in the house she grew up in.
This antique garnet and pearl gold ring was handcrafted in Birmingham, England, in 1873. There are four cabochon pearls that measure approximately 2.5 mm in diameter. They are patterned around two reddish-violet faceted garnets set in 15 karat gold. One of the garnets measures 3.9 x 3.6 x 2.2 mm and the other measures 4.3 x 4 x 3.1 mm, together they weigh approximately .59 carats. This ring is a size 7 and weighs 2.2 grams. It has been fully hallmarked and bears the gold purity marks, “15CT” and “.625”, the date letter, “Y”, and a maker’s mark that reads, “H&S”.
For a beautiful and charming ring that she’ll brag about forever, or for a gift for yourself because you deserve one, this Victorian stunner will do!
