I love the cheeky smile this wonderful single snake ring. Snakes have been used in jewelry for millennia but became particularly popular when Prince Albert gave Queen Victoria a snake ring for their betrothal gift.
This snake was hand crafted in Birmingham, England in 1879, it’s silver that’s been gilded to look like gold. The ring measures 7.5 mm north to south at the widest point and 19 mm across, it sits 3.6 mm off the finger and narrows to 2.6 mm at the back of the band. This ring is fully hallmarked with marks showing when and where it was made and it also has the lion rampant and a makers mark of ’S&G’. This size 6.5 ring weighs 2.5 grams.
