Zoltan White was born in Hungary. He trained in Budapest for jewelry making and began his firm, Zoltan White and Co. in England. His business operated from around 1910 to the 1940s. His work has a clear Austro-Hungarian feel, given his background and childhood experiences, although he was part of the British Arts and Crafts tradition.
This wonderfully detailed turquoise and silver ring was handcrafted in England around 1920. It was made by Zoltan White and Company and bear the hallmark, “Z.W. & Co;”. The other two hallmarks include, “SILVER”, and the origin mark, “MADE IN ENGLAND”. This gorgeous ring is set with 9 cabochon cut turquoise gems in rich shoes of blue and green. The ring measures 21.3 mm north to south and 20.5 mm across, it sits 8 mm off the finger and narrows to 2 mm wide at the back of the band. This size size 7.5 ring weighs 8 grams.
