Edwardian Natural Fancy Diamond Cluster Ring Dark Orange Brown Colored

“Ashford Castle, this is Ella, how may I assist you today” said the female voice in a pleasant, but not obvious, Irish brogue.

“Hello Ella,” you replied, “I’d like to book the 83rd Room.”

She heard, rather than saw, Ella’s eyes widen a bit. “Yes, Mam,” she replied, “I’ll put you through to the Hotel Manager.”

She’d been dreaming of this day ever since she’d discovered the 83rd Room existed. Ashford Castle, an estate going back 800 years, contained 82 gorgeous hotel rooms, but the 83rd room wasn’t in the castle. Rather, it consisted of an old Stone boat house which had been lavishly reappointed as an indulgent hideaway. It came with bicycles to explore the hotels 350 acre estate, with Jack Murphy Jackets and Wellies to take home, with a fully stocked bar and a 24/7 butler, but the reason she really wanted it was that it came with a boat. She wanted to row out into the lake in the deep of night and see the stars reflected in its ancient water; sparkling like diamonds under a moonless sky.

This ring is a bit like those stars, sparkly, rich and deeply mysterious. It is set with an Octagon of bright white old European cut diamonds which weight about 1 carat in total and are F/G color and VS1 clarity, but it’s the center stone on this one that will really take your breath away. At the heart of this ring is an Old European cut Natural Fancy Dark Orange Brown diamond. According to the accompanying GIA report, this stone weighs approximately .63 carats and is not treated in any way, it is a VS1 in clarity. The ring is a hand crafted beauty that dates to the Edwardian era. It is made of 14 karat yellow gold and platinum and is unmarked but has been carefully acid tested. The face of this ring measures 14.3 mm north to south and across, it sits 5.4 mm off of the finger and narrows to 1.5 mm wide at the back of the band. This size 8.5 ring weighs 5.3 grams. Comes with a full appraisal and GIA certificate, the replacement value is $8,650.

A note from Victoria: I’ve worn this ring for awhile, but I’m ready to part with it so I’m listing it for sale. I can tell you from having worn it that it is a stunning beauty, the center stone can go from a light peach color to a rich dark brown depending on the light and it gets flashes of color from deep red to light pink. I think I might miss it, but I’ve recently acquired one that I like just a bit better and I’m not really wearing this one the way it deserves to be worn. It would make an utterly stunning engagement ring, but it doesn’t really need an excuse. It get’s a lot of lovely compliments!
