Georgian Memorial Ring Dated 1813 Pearls and Hair 15k Gold

I love finding these old Georgian memorial rings which still have their crystal and hair intact. So many of the ones I come across these days have had the crystal and hair removed and they’ve been replace with an inappropriate gem or reworked badly. So, you can understand why I just couldn’t resist the completely original beauty, ones this pristine are getting so very very rare.

This ring was hand crafted around 1813 in England of 15 karat gold. It is done with an open split shank which hold a black enamel plaque with a circle of wonderful little seed pearls which look to be be all original. The pearls surround an oval of rock crystal with hair behind it. The ring is inscribe on the reverse with “Saml Clanfield, Obt,, 3 Feb,, Y 1813 At,, 62”. There are 19 pearls and the ring measures 12.4 mm north to south and 16.3 mm across at the face and is 4.3 mm off the finger, it narrows to 3.4 mm at the back of the band. This ring is unmarked but has been carefully acid tested as 15 karat gold. The ring is a size 6.85 and weighs 5.0 grams.
