Sometimes when I come across old jewels they are as crisp and perfect as the day they were made, almost as though they were put into a drawer the day after they were made and left there for a hundred or more years. Other times I come across pieces that look as though they have been loved and worn since they day they were made. Sometimes it’s the well worn that I find attracts me the most, you can almost feel the century plus of love, the silky softness that only time can impart.
This wonderful ring was hand crafted in the Mid Victorian era, most likely, around 1860. It was originally engraved around the band, but the engraving has been worn almost smooth. This ring is a wonderful weighty peice which is done in 18 karat gold (unmarked but acid tested), it measures 9.5 mm north to south and 9 mm across, it sits 2.5 mm off the finger and narrows to 4.2 mm at the back of the band. This size 6 ring weighs 8.4 grams. It was likely originally a pinky ring for a man, but would be beautiful on a man or a woman.
