Antique Engraved Rose Gold Heart Shaped Locket English Victorian

Queen Victoria wore a heart-shaped locket, surmounted with a crown, around her neck. It held a lock of her dear Prince Albert’s hair from when he was a child. She rarely took it off. It was a gold piece with crystal, sent to the Queen by Prince Albert’s nurse in 1867. It added fire to the sentimental jewelry trend of the time, which is why we are lucky enough to have lockets like this around today.

This wonderful Victorian gold heart locket was handcrafted around 1900. It’s an antique English piece with the front showcasing engraved floral and heart details while the back bears a motif of swirling florals. It opens to reveal two frames with windows. This pendant measures 29 x 22.2 mm and weighs 3.8 grams. It bears the gold purity hallmark, “9CT FRONT BACK”.

For locks of hair, or tiny pictures, lockets can hold many secrets and sentimental tokens that you get to hang around your neck, near your heart.
