Antique Silver and Chrysoberyl Victorian Necklace, Filigree

I wanted something fun, something fresh, something subtle. Then I saw these perfect, bright, chrysoberyl stones and decided subtle was no longer in my vocabulary. This piece is an assemblage of beauty, a collection of enticement. And that’s never a bad way to start your day, or to end it.

This Victorian silver chain with a chrysoberyl silver filigree pendant was handcrafted around 1890. Filigree is a type of metal work where threads and beads of silver or gold, in this case silver, is pulled, twisted and then soldered together to create intricate designs. This pendant contains two glowing, forest green cabochon cut chrysoberyl stones. One lies in the center of the top pendant, surrounded by ornate and floral filigree design. The second stone drops from below the top pendant and is surrounded with more beautiful silver filigree.  The pendant measures 83 x 35.9 x 6.7 mm. This necklace weighs 16.3 grams and is 28.5 inches in length. It has been acid tested.

Cool and chic, this piece is ready to be worn by someone as lovely as you.
