Antique 18k Georgian Pearl and Hair Memorial Ring Dated 1801

This wonderful example Georgian memorial jewelry was made in England and is dated December 10, 1801. The top of the wide tapering band is adorned with a raised oval of collet set natural pearls that surround elegantly woven strands of brunette and white hair. No doubt these were from her youth and her final days, and form a fitting symbol of the circle of life in this loving tribute. Her name was Ann Hutton and she lived to the ripe old age of sixty. No easy feat in those days! In a strange twist of fate this ring is being listed on the anniversary of her death. I hope that is a good omen for the next owner of this wonderful piece of history. It is in excellent condition, it weighs 4.2 grams and is currently a US size 9. It could be sized up or down several sizes by a skilled jeweler and does show a mark from a previous sizing that could be removed if desired.
