I was standing at a market stall on Portobello Road in London on a sunny spring Saturday morning chatting over a latte with one of my favorite dealers, when I came across these classic Victorian hoop earring tucked away in the corner of her showcase. Their golden hoops catching the early light of the day, as I went to point them out to see them, she looked at me knowingly as if to say she knew I'd have them before I even asked!
Hand crafted in 9 karat rose gold, these turn of the century earrings were made in England, sometime between 1900 and 1910. A rare fined indeed, simple hoop earrings from this time period a like hen's teeth. Perfect for every day wear, they have just the right look and patina that only comes with such a classic style and over 100 years of cherished wear. The earrings measure 32.5 mm from top to bottom, 25.2 mm across at the widest point and 5 mm in depth. There is a '9C' mark to indicate the metal content as well a maker's mark, and together these lovely Victorian hoops weigh 5.8 grams.
