Antique Amethyst Austro-Hungarian Figural Ring Silver Gilt

Well, being a February girl, I always find that I gravitate towards Amethysts. I also like big rings and I personally think that purple counts a neutral. So, this ring just ticked off all my boxes when I saw it. I also love the figural styling of the sides and the slightly smokey color of this chunky stone.

Hand crafted around 1900, I think this ring is Austro-Hungarian in origin. it is open at the very back with a somewhat ‘adjustable’ band, although I would not try to adjust it without a jeweler. The big rectangular, faceted stone is being held up on either side by a bust of a man. The central stone measures 12.6x15.8x7.8 mm and weighs about 10.7 carats. The ring measures 19.7 mm north to south and 16.9 mm across at the face and sits 8.3 mm off the finger. It is a size 5.5 and weighs 9.5 grams. The ring is done in silver gilt and is unmarked but has been carefully acid tested as about 830 silver.
