Antique Amethyst Paste Gold Cluster Ring Victorian

Your ring goes with springtime, it looks perfect in a wonderland of violets and dark purple tulips with robins in the sky. It goes with the smell of fresh rain and mint as you stroll the sidewalks of a small town, going in and out of antique stores. It goes with humming in the breeze, enjoying the tree buds and looking forward to the evening, when the stars will come out and the grass will dew and your love will be home.

This antique cluster ring was hand crafted in England in 9 karat gold in about 1850. The center stone is a cushiony oval of light purple amethyst in a gold pinched bezel surrounded by a halo of black dot, closed backed, pastes set in silver. I think that the top of this ring started life as a brooch or button and has been transformed at some point into this stunning ring. I purchased it this way and the shank is worn enough to show that this wasn’t done any time recently. The ring measures 19.7 mm north to south and 18.5 mm across, it sits 7.2 mm off the finger and narrows to 1.9 mm at the back of the band. This ring is unmarked but has been carefully acid tested; it is a size 7.5 and weighs 6.4 grams.

Ideal in any season, this ring will glitter in any light! Give yourself something special.
