I always keep an extra eye out for lovely silver and marcasite jewelry. There was a fantastic surge of these pieces made in the 1920s, and while they are still being made today, the ones made in the 20s have a handcrafted quality and feel that the newer ones are lacking. Here is the perfect example of a fantastic piece from the 20s.
Completely handcrafted in 800 silver, this beautiful necklace features a sky blue enamel plaque with engraving behind it to give it extra depth and interest. Set into the enamel bit is a floral motif set with sparkling marcasite and surrounding this is a very detailed frame with w heavy nod to the Art Nouveau style that was just about coming to an end when this necklace was made. It is marked on the back with '800' and another mark that is hard to make out, maybe a duck or bird? The drop measures 2 1/8 inches long (54.2 mm) from top to bottom and it's just shy of 1 inch (24 mm) across at the widest point. The chain is 16 inches long.
This is a truly lovely example of handcrafted early marcasite jewelry, symbolic of the burgeoning middle class of the early decades of the 20th Century.
Hand crafted around 1910 this wonderful Arts & Crafts necklace features a bright and glowing cabochon of amber, sparkling with history and life. Contrasting with the amber are circles of mother of pearl, two gems that among the most organic of them all.
This beautiful necklace features leaves and swirls and twisted wire work and is sure to be noticed and complimented! The chain is 20 inches long and the drop measures 60 mm from top to bottom and 28 mm across at the widest point, it weighs 12.8 grams. The necklace is unmarked but tests as sterling silver.
I purchased this wonderful necklace in England and I suspect it was made there, over a century ago!

What can I say, I like pretty jewelry. It doesn't have to be diamonds and gold, sometimes it can just be pretty, like this wonderful necklace. Swirls of mill grained silver set with sparkling purple amethysts and smooth white pearls? Yes, indeed, I like it!
Hand made Antique silver necklace featuring swirls of silver and glowing amethysts set off by creamy pearls. This necklace was made around 1900, but I'm not sure entirely where. It tests as 800 silver and so most likely it is continental in origin. The drop is 1.5 inches wide and 2 inches long. The chain is 16 inches long. It weighs 9 grams. The necklace is in great condition and looks absolutely superb on! A great and very wearable piece of antique jewelry which would make a fantastic addition to any jewelry box.

A Message From Victoria:
This is the kind of jewelry that I personally love to wear. Murrle, Bennett & Co. is one of my favorite designers, their Arts & Crafts style just speaks to my artists heart. The clean lines, the bright and glowing faceted aquamarine contrasting with a creamy pearl, the whiplash design, all speak to the designer in my soul.
This wonderful necklace was hand crafted in about 1900 and is set with 6 creamy white pearls and one oval faceted aquamarine. The aqua measures 15mm x 11mm x 5.6 mm deep and weighs approximately 5 carats. The pendant is done in 15 karat gold and is marked on the reverse, the chain is 9 karat gold and is marked on the bale. The necklace is 19 inches long and the drop is 38 mm long and 31 mm wide at the widest point. It is marked with the MB&Co mark for Murrle, Bennett and Company. This necklace weighs 7.1 grams.
I don’t know about borrowed, but if you’re looking for something old and blue for your special day, look no further than this wonderful instant heirloom!
She has a contagious spirit, a charming beauty with a confident stride. It's in the way she moves, and how she pronounces her words. She understands how the world works, and knows that the world is her oyster, her pearl and her bowl of cherries.
This Art Nouveau pearl necklace was handcrafted in France around 1915. Creamy white pearls are set on 18 karat gold stems, branching out from beautifully detailed leaves. This gorgeous link is repeated five times on this shiny floral intricate necklace, totaling 21 pretty pearls. It has been acid tested but also has French hallmarks. This lovely necklace is 16.5 inches long and weighs 11.8 grams.
