Antique Arts and Crafts Silver Enamel Necklace Turquoise Purple

I stood on the platform waiting for a train from Bath to London, I was wearing this wonderful necklace, having just bought it that morning from a lovely man with wonderful taste in all things antique jewelry. It was cold and the train was late so I went to get a coffee in a small, steamy coffee shop on the platform. The warmth was lovely for a moment but quickly became a bit too much, so I opened my coat and stripped off my scarf; no sooner had I done this then the woman behind the counter’s eyes popped open. “Oh!” she cried, “I LOVE your necklace, it’s lovely” (She said it with that proper English accent that makes it sound like ‘luhv-lee’). I grinned. I thought so too, but it’s always nice to get a compliment!

This fantastic Arts and Crafts era pendant was hand crafted in England in 1910. It is a beautifully crafted piece, very colorful with turquoise blue and rich purple enamel on the front and a cheeky little green enameled clasp at the back. The pendant measures 58 mm top to bottom and 25 mm across, the chain is 18 inches long and the necklace weighs 10.7 grams. The pendant is marked to the reverse with ’Str Silver’ for sterling silver and ‘RD549086’ which is a British registration mark which dates this piece to 1910.
