This stunning pendant shimmers with light and air. During the 1800s, jewelry makers of the Austro-Hungarian region established a reputation for superior craftsmanship and beautiful design. Using seed pearls, semi-precious gems, and labor-intensive high-quality bright and bold paste gems, they specialized in the wildly popular Renaissance Revival style with pieces such as this marvelous silver pendant. Their pieces expressed richness of form, intricate detail, and experimental design. Here we see dragons, or perhaps birds, perched delicately on either side, arching their long, elegant necks over their silver wings.

This eye-catching Austro-Hungarian silver pendant was handcrafted around 1890. It features a double dragon (or bird) motif with five white pearls, including a larger creamy pearl which dangles from the base. It also features three glittering green beryls, along with five deep-red garnet gemstones. Measuring at 70 mm long, 34.8 mm wide, and 8.2 mm thick, it is surprisingly substantial for such a delicate looking piece!

Elegance and strength. Air and sea. Coolness of pearl, ferocity of garnets, and wisdom of emerald. That is the fierce, delicate beauty of this pendant. It is one of a kind, just like you!
