Antique Citrine Spinner Fob Pendant Gold Lion Top

She could tell the man across from them was nervous. A happy kind of nervous, it seemed, he kept checking his pocket watch and couldn’t seem to keep a grin off of his face. He had a spinner fob with a glowing chunk of citrine at the bottom and a lion at the top, he kept spinning it and sending rainbows about the train car. She bounced her baby on her lap as he watched with glee the rainbows from the fob. This seemed to make the man even happier and he finally burst out that he was on his way home, that his wife was about to have their first child and that he’d promised he’d be there. She smiled and laughed and before they knew it the train was pulling into Victoria station and the happy man tucked away his fob and waved them a cheery goodbye.

This Victorian watch fob was meant for a watch chain but could easily be happy on a chain as a pendant. It is gorgeously crafted in 9 karat yellow gold with a fully figural lion at the top and a chunky spinner of citrine that’s faceted and flat on 3 sides. The citrine measures 22.7 mm across and 16 mm wide at the center, the pendant measures 39.2 mm from top to bottom and 27.6 mm across, it is unmarked but tests as 9 karat gold and it weighs 8.8 grams.

Made in England in about 1880.
