Antique Early Victorian Cabochon Garnet Ring

Garnets were one of the Victorian's favorite stones, I think it has to do with the way they look in candlelight, or possibly it's because their rich color was associated with love and affairs of the heart. They are undeniably romantic, both sensuous and elegant. Very, very Victorian.

This antique early Victorian cabochon garnet ring was handcrafted in England of 9 karat gold kissed with a rosy hue. The glowing stone is set is a closed-backed mounting which protects the garnet and gives it a fabulous golden glow from within. The ring face measures 15.8 x 12.3 x 5.5 mm. This size 6.75 piece weighs 3.6 grams. It has been acid tested. Made around 1850-60.

This unisex ring would be equally stunning on a man or a woman. It also goes great with a bottle of red and box of dark chocolate truffles.
