Antique French Art Nouveau Pearl Diamond Ring

Bypass rings are known to the French as ‘Moi et Toi’ rings, meaning, ‘Me and You’. They were most used during the 1800s, as its romantic design symbolizes two souls coming together in love. The sides of the band don’t meet in the middle, they gracefully pass one another, to express individuality and fluidity. Rumor has it, Napoleon Bonaparte gave a Moi et Toi ring to his beloved Josephine in 1776 for their engagement, and thus began the trend of this beautiful motif.

This antique Art Nouveau pearl and diamond Moi et Toi gold ring was handcrafted in France around 1910. It boasts two creamy white pearls at the center, each measuring 3.5 mm in diameter, with two rows of four rose cut diamonds, for a total of eight diamonds. The stones are platinum set over 18 karat gold. This ring is a size 5 and weighs 2.3 grams. The ring face measures 8.1 x 14.3 x 4.4 mm and the band width is 2 mm at the back. There are no marks and it has been acid tested.

This swirling ring is the perfect way to say ‘I love you!’.
