There he is, the well dressed man, you won’t find a scuff on his shoes or food on his tie, he knows a perfect double Windsor and a well fitted vest are just a start, he selects carefully, cufflinks, lapel pin, watch chain and fob, and a pinky ring just like this one. Will anyone know that it hasn’t been in his family for over a hundred years? Nope, no one will. It could’ve come from that French Great-Great-Uncle who was a Vicomte, who’s to say. Not me.
This wonderfully hand carved signet ring has probably sealed its fair share of letters over the century plus that it’s been around. Made in France around 1880, it is carved with a shield that shows a swan on a field with a chevron above. I couldn’t find this particular family crest in my research. This ring measures 16 mm north to south and 12 mm across, it is marked to the reverse of the band with the French Owl mark. Rings like this were meant to be worn on the pinky, this one is a size 5.25 and weighs 17.4 grams.
