I don’t usually call a piece of jewelry French unless it has French hallmarks, but this fabulous Trefoil diamond ring that I found in Paris couldn’t get more French if it sang out ‘Ooh, la, la’!
Hand crafted around 1890, this lovely ring is set with three perfectly matched Old European cut diamonds of about .12 carats each for a total diamond weight of .36 carats. The sparkling diamonds make up the three leaves of the clover-like design and are set in a ring of 18 karat gold. It measures 9.7 mm from north to south, 8.2 mm across and sits 4.4 mm off the finger. This ring is not marked but has been carefully acid tested to verify the gold content, it weighs 2.3 grams and is a size 8.
