Antique Georgian Shield Bloodstone Intaglio Ring

Its shield-shaped face is carved with a single Gothic “D,” deeply etched into dark green bloodstone. Handcrafted in about 1840 between the late Georgian to early Victorian transition, this ring is made in unmarked but tested 15 karat gold. The bloodstone intaglio measures 8 x 6 mm, set into a shapely shield bezel. The ring is a US size 8.25 and weighs 2.4 grams. Overall, it measures 9.8 mm north to south and 17 mm across, is 2.6 mm in depth with a 2.1 mm band width.
